He Wending was a first-term student of Huangpu, and after graduation, he chose to follow Yan Xishan, but abandoned Yan xishan during the Central Plains War to join Chiang Kai-shek, who was still very happy at the time and praised him as a good student of his own. Later, when the War of Resistance Broke Out in full swing, He Wending organized a Shaanxi Volunteer Army and marched to Shanxi to block the Japanese army. Chiang Kai-shek's Central Army's weapons and equipment were no better than those of the Japanese, let alone He Wending's volunteer army, but He Wending was not afraid of death, even if the troops suffered heavy casualties, he did not retreat, and under his call, the soldiers were all shirtless and brave. In the end, He Wending stubbornly guarded the customs clearance, so that the Japanese army could not touch Shaanxi.
In 1940, a total of 40,000 Japanese puppet troops invaded Inner Mongolia, He Wending commanded the front line to sleep and forget to eat, and then led the death squad to fight with the Japanese puppet army in the ice and snow, annihilating more than 3,000 Japanese puppet troops.

Unlike other generals of the Nationalist army, He Wending did not like to wear military uniforms, and he ate and lived with ordinary soldiers, so his reputation in the army was very high, which also laid the groundwork for his smooth uprising. When New China was founded, Chiang Kai-shek knew that he lacked the skills to return to heaven, so he fled to Taiwan, leaving the command of the Chengdu army to He Wending. Clear-eyed people can see that He Wending became an outcast of Chiang Kai-shek, but fortunately, He Wending also understood the current affairs and simply telegraphed an uprising in Deyang, Sichuan, and then persuaded a number of Kuomintang armies to revolt, making important contributions to the liberation of the great southwest.
If you look at it this way, He Wending, as a meritorious person, may still be able to receive the rank of a new China, but unfortunately he did a wrong thing when he followed Hu Zongnan to attack Yan'an, which directly changed the trajectory of his life. At that time, Hu Zongnan invaded Yan'an, He Wending was one of the main forces under him, and when Hu Zongnan temporarily took Yan'an, He Wending was also appointed as the commander of the Yan'an garrison, and it was at this time that he did a lot of propaganda work to smear the Eighth Route Army, so in the end he did not escape the fate of becoming a war criminal.
In 1961, he Wending, who was already 60 years old, was pardoned, and only 7 years later, He Wending died, and there were two mainstream causes of death, one was that he died of gas poisoning, and the other was that he was humiliated and wiped his neck with scissors. It was not until 1985 that the Supreme Court determined that He Wending was an uprising general and revoked his status as a war criminal, at which point He Wending could finally see him.
