At the end of July, the 20th Regiment began to attack Mopan Mountain, which was shaped like a pagoda.
The 2nd and 3rd companies of the 3rd Battalion attacked upward along the ladder ridge, fighting with the enemy one by one, and completely annihilated the Japanese troops on the first floor before dawn. However, after dawn, the Japanese troops on the mountainside and the top of the mountain desperately resisted by virtue of the terrain and bunkers, and the battle became quite fierce, and the two sides fought inextricably.
The 20th Regiment attacked from below and upwards, and suffered many casualties after being blocked.
The regimental commander Chu Daming was a tiger general, loved soldiers like sons, and could not see the soldiers bleeding the most, so he immediately catned to his waist and ran towards the second layer of bunkers. The enemy spotted him and immediately blocked him with grenadiers and machine guns. "Snap—" Chu Daming was injured in the leg. After hastily bandaging, he said to the guard Li Jinqiao:
"Carry me on your back and run!"
Li Jinqiao carried him on his back and continued to run forward. As a result, Chu Daming found a route to conceal the enemy and also found the only water source on Mopan Mountain.
Therefore, Chu Daming immediately adjusted his deployment, ordering the 7th Company with 9 companies to go around to the left side of the enemy's second layer of defensive positions. Then, in squads, the two companies attacked in multiple ways, blowing up all the enemy's bunkers on the mountainside in one fell swoop, and cutting off the water source of the defending enemy.
At this moment, the puppet army could not hold back.
Under the scorching sun, more than 300 puppet troops, led by the captain, carried 17 light and heavy machine guns down the mountain and surrendered to the Eighth Route Army.
However, some Japanese troops attacked the 2nd Company under the cover of artillery fire. The Devil Scouts stretched out the scattered troops in a wild way, and the attack was very fierce. The warriors suppressed the devils on this side, and the devils on the other side came up regardless of life and death. The 8th and 9th companies immediately came up from the canyon movement of Mopan Mountain and connected with them to catch fire.
Chu Daming was lying on Li Jinqiao's back, and he also hurried up to catch up. When he came up to take a look, he saw a circle of devils around a plaster flag in the mountain pass, immediately determined that it was the command post of the Japanese army, and ordered: "The 8th and 9th companies will fight on the enemy's flank and hit the snake seven inches." ”
The two of them went up and pounced on the devil. The new soldier Chu Yanming slashed all the way to the front of the Japanese squad leader, and before the other party raised his knife, he pulled the trigger, "Snap! The Devil Squad Leader jumped up violently, raised his hands, and fell to the ground, dead.
This stabbed the honeycomb, and the Japanese army surrounded it in all directions. "Snap", the Japanese cao chang fired a shot, hitting Chu Yanming's arm. However, he still insisted on not being in the line of fire.
Director Wu and the guard Li Jinqiao urged one by one to pull hard, but unexpectedly another stray bullet flew and hit Chu Daming's arm. Chu Daming was injured for the third time.
However, he still refused.
The heroism of the regimental commander encouraged the whole regiment.

The sound of gunfire echoed through the valley. Soon, more than 80 Japanese troops were cleaned up by the Eighth Route Army, and the remaining more than 230 puppet troops were frightened and scattered, kneeling in pieces and raising their hands to beg for their lives.
When the battle was over, the officers and men carried the regimental commander, escorted the prisoners triumphantly, and returned to the base area to rest.
A few days later, the United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima, Japan, soviet troops left the northeast, and the death knell of the Japanese invaders rang. On August 15, the Emperor of Japan announced his unconditional surrender. The Battle of Mopanshan turned out to be the last battle of the 20 regiments in the War of Resistance.
