Geniseys released the exterior of the new G90 last month, and recently released interior pictures and details. From the inside, the sedan was designed to satisfy both customers who drive their own cars and those who are driven by drivers.
In terms of interior, a sleek and atmospheric cockpit looks much more modern and luxurious than its predecessors. Genissy is tight-lipped about the specifics, and the infotainment system sits atop digital climate control and slender air-conditioning outlets, giving the illusion of spanning the width of the dashboard. Elsewhere, there's a swivel shifter and a center console that combines glass and aluminum to express the high-end analog feel.
The interior will also feature striped wood finishes in the style of a newspaper, a material that uses a new approach to minimize its impact on the environment by reprocessing waste paper from everyday life, including newspapers. Combined with a metal inlay, it pays homage to sanggam, a traditional Korean craft technique that maximises the vehicle's sense of status by inlaying double-wire and G-matrix motifs onto real metal, ash and forged carbon surfaces.
The G90 also has a 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with pop-up tweeters. The model will also have two panoramic sunroofs with ambient lighting that can be controlled individually.
In addition, the G90 is the first Genisesys model to feature a fragrance system that can accommodate two fragrance boxes at a time, and the type and intensity of the fragrance can be controlled by the infotainment system as well as the touch controller in the rear seat.
Other highlights include curtains and RGO front seats, which feature ten air units on the back of the chair and two air units on the seat cushions. The chair offers four types of massages, including full body, waist, pelvis and upper body, with three options for massage time and intensity.
Of course, the G90 has a VIP seat on the right side of the rear, with heated ventilation, as well as a foot pedal. The rear seats also offer power tilt, and Denniss noted that passengers will find thoughtfully designed storage space, such as separate trays for magazines and books in the second row of C-pillar areas. An 8-inch armrest touchscreen is also available, allowing them to adjust seats, climate control, curtain position and lighting with just a few taps.
Interior aside, Geniseys confirmed that the model will be equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine, matched by an 8-speed automatic transmission. The U.S. model will be announced as it approaches launch, but the Korean model has a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 375 hp (280 kW/380 hp) and 391 lb-ft (530 Nm) of torque. The engine appears to have been inherited from the G80, which will offer all-wheel drive.
Speaking of performance, the all-new flagship model promises a smoother ride thanks to an electronically controlled suspension that uses a front-facing camera to identify road conditions and predict imperfect spots. The model also has a multi-cavity air suspension with three settings, including a high mode that raises the sedan by nearly 25mm. Air suspension also uses sensors to detect when the car is on a steep slope, and when that happens, the front of the car is raised to help prevent damage to the chassis.
Other notable features include a rear wheel steering system that allows the rear wheels to turn four degrees when parked. At higher speeds, the rear wheels can only turn up to 2 degrees. Genises said the system improves flexibility and stability in cornering, while also making the car's turning radius similar to that of a mid-size sedan.
Finally, in terms of dynamics, the model has an adjustable braking system that allows the driver to choose between three different modes. One of them is called the driver mode, and presumably it helps to provide low-key parking.
In terms of technology, the G90 has automatic translational door handles that automatically unfold when the driver approaches. Once inside, the EasyClose system closes all four doors at the push of a button, and the driver's doors can also be set to close automatically after pressing the brake pedal. Regarding the door issue, the G90 is equipped with a digital key system that can open the vehicle as long as the owner's mobile phone is nearby.
Once inside, the driver can start the car using the G90's fingerprint authentication system. The system can also load their personal settings and can identify different drivers by fingerprint. Other technical features include support for over-the-air updates and Hands On detection technology, which enables cars to accurately detect when a driver is holding the steering wheel, which should eliminate unnecessary warnings.
It is reported that the new Geniseth G90 is expected to be launched next year.
