With the recent launch of the new generation of the BMW 7 Series, we were able to see the top flagship sedans of luxury brands, becoming more and more individual, getting younger and younger, and also getting more and more different from other brands.
Chinese consumers love Mercedes-Benz very much, China is one of the largest markets for Mercedes-Benz in the world, is the country with the largest sales of Mercedes-Benz S-Class in the world, and the United States ranks second. Half of the BMW 7 Series sales are in China, and the average age of BMW 7 Series owners is only 38 years old, which is also very young.

The GeniseyS G90 sold 1,897 units in South Korea last month, 505 more than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and the popularity of the G90 appears to be high.
In this article, we compare the Models for the Mercedes-Benz S500 4Matic Long (hereinafter referred to as the S500), the 740i and the G90 Long Wheelbase Gasoline 3.5 Turbo (hereinafter referred to as the G90).
【1】Size
As the flagship sedan representing each brand, it must be on the road to highlight its presence. In terms of length, the G90 is the longest. The other two are less than 5.4m, but the G90 is close to 5.5m. The new BMW 7 Series is also larger than before.
In terms of overall width, the S500 and 740i are similar, and the G90 is about 2cm smaller. The 740i is the highest. This is expected to have an advantage in terms of the lateral width of the interior. Overall, the width and height gap is not large, but the G90 has strength in length.
Wheelbase is not an absolute number that determines the space inside the car, but a measurable scale. The longest is the G90 with a wheelbase of 3370mm, which is longer than both other models. It shows more comfortable interior space than the other two models.

All three models have similar maximum torques. The difference is the maximum output. The S500 is the tallest, with 435 hp. The G90 is only equipped with a gasoline 3.5 turbocharged engine. The other two S500 and 740i are both 3.0L engines, and both cars are somewhat at a loss. The higher models, the S580 (V8 4.0L) and 760i (V8 4.4L), both produce more than 500 hp. As a reference, the S500 and 740i are equipped with a 48V mild hybrid system to aid in the output. The G90 is equipped with a 48V electric supercharger for the early delivery of maximum torque at the point in time.

The flagship sedan is huge and heavier than a regular sedan. Fuel efficiency is also reduced. While concerns about oil prices don't lend themselves to flagship sedans, manufacturers struggle to meet stricter environmental regulations. The 7 series is the lightest. 130 kg lighter than G90. Because of its light weight, it is also highly fuel efficient. Considering several factors, it can be said that the S500 is the most fuel-efficient of the three models. The G90 is the largest and heaviest, with the lowest fuel efficiency.

Rear-wheel steering is a feature that reduces the turning radius and helps the body be more flexible at high speeds. Even with a longer body length, the driver feels a lot less when using rear wheel steering. All three models are equipped with this system. The rear wheels of the S500 rotate back to 10 degrees from the front wheels. This is an overwhelming angle compared to the competition. The system is also mounted on the electric vehicle EQS, but the basic angle is limited to 4.5 degrees. The 740i is 3.5 degrees in each direction, and the G90 is 4 degrees and 2 degrees, respectively.

All three models have 12.3-inch numbers. The centre display is the largest on the 740i. The recently released i4 also has the same monitor installed because it was first introduced by iX. Instead of following the design of the previous generation of instruments and the center control screen, the S-Class separated the two and installed a vertical center control screen.
The S500 and G90 have a small plate on the center armrest in the second row. The convenient configuration can be controlled with a tablet. It measures 1 inch larger than the G90. The 740i's rear door panel features a 5.5-inch touchscreen that lets you operate the seat and convenient equipment. The rear seat display of the passengers in the second row was an overwhelming victory for BMW. The huge 31.3-inch display supports 8K resolution in a 32:9 aspect ratio. YouTube videos can be watched, and the G90 is equipped with 10.2-inch monitors on both sides. The S500 is only available as an option.
[6] Sound system
As the flagship of the representative brand, the sound system is also unique. In this project, the top of the S-class sound system is the "Bumester High-End 4D Surround Sound System". A total of 31 speakers, range, and tweeters are installed. The total output of the system is 1750W. 4D Sound is a system that adds touch to the sense of hearing, and by installing speakers on the seat, you can feel the vibrations according to the rhythm, so you can feel the sound more vividly.
The 7 Series is more than the S-Class. Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound systems feature 36 speakers and outputs up to 1965W. Like the S-Class, it provides a 4D audio environment. The G90 is a bit weak compared to both models, and the Bang & Olufsen Premier 3D sound system comes with 23 speakers. Unlike the S-Class and 7 Series, there is no optional sound system and no official output.
Nowadays, the top flagship cars of various manufacturers are actually more and more differentiated. I think that's a good direction, after all, to allow consumers to choose very different models, rather than the same.
