May 12 this year is the 16th National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day in mainland China, with the theme of "Everyone Stresses Safety, Everyone Knows How to Respond to Emergencies - Strive to Improve Grassroots Disaster Prevention and Risk Avoidance Capabilities". In order to strengthen the popularization and education of teachers and students on disaster prevention and mitigation knowledge, effectively enhance the awareness of disaster prevention and mitigation among teachers and students, and enhance the ability of emergency avoidance, self-rescue and mutual rescue, on May 11, 2024, Chengnan Primary School organized all teachers and students to carry out a series of publicity and education activities on disaster prevention and mitigation.

Before the drill, each class carried out a theme team meeting, played a special video of "School Earthquake Evacuation Drill Promotional Video", and taught students how to correctly avoid danger and save themselves when the earthquake came.

After the drill, all the teachers and students of the school watched the special video of "512 Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Knowledge Promotional Video", which promoted the knowledge of natural disasters such as earthquakes, landslides, lightning weather, and typhoon weather. Let the teachers and students of the whole school have an in-depth understanding of the hazards of various natural disasters, and learn how to effectively protect themselves and save themselves when disasters occur.

An earthquake escape drill

At 9 o'clock in the morning, the commander-in-chief, President Wei Xuesong, announced the start of the drill, and a rapid alarm sounded, and the earthquake escape drill officially began.

The teachers and students of the whole school quickly entered the state and transformed the knowledge of risk avoidance that they usually learned into practical actions. The first alarm sounded suddenly, and the teachers and students of all classes immediately took shelter on the spot.

As the second alarm sounded, the teachers quickly arrived at the designated place to guide the students to evacuate quickly, and the class teachers quickly organized the students to bend their heads and cover their heads, leading the students to evacuate quickly along the designated escape channel and run to the school playground in an orderly manner. The whole process was tense and efficient, fully demonstrating the results of the daily drill, all classes were able to evacuate according to the predetermined route, there was no crowding and falling, and the activity achieved the expected goal. The drill was a complete success!

First of all, we need to raise awareness of disaster prevention and mitigation. In our daily lives, we must always be vigilant and aware of all kinds of dangerous situations that may arise. We need to learn to recognize the early warning signs of various disasters and know how to respond appropriately when disasters occur. In this way, when disaster does strike, we will be able to protect ourselves and our family and friends.

Second, we need to learn and master the knowledge of disaster prevention and mitigation. This knowledge includes the causes of disasters, how they develop, their possible impacts, and how we can prevent and respond to them. Only when we have this knowledge can we make the right decisions and take effective measures to reduce the impact of disasters on our lives when disasters strike.
