Because he missed a call from China's anti-fraud warning hotline, the bank account was frozen.

Recently, a Ningbo netizen (hereinafter referred to as Mr. B) posted on Weibo that he contacted Singapore's United Overseas Bank (UOB) on his mobile phone in China last week to discuss work. About an hour later, the anti-fraud warning hotline 96110 called him, but he didn't answer.

The anti-fraud warning line could not find Mr. B, so he contacted his friends instead. Soon after, Mr. B received a WeChat message from a friend, saying that the police were looking for him everywhere and asked him to answer the call from the police quickly.

Soon after, another call from 96110 came, and Mr. B did not dare to slack off this time and answered immediately.

The call was from the Ningbo Nanmen Police Station of the Anti-Fraud Center, and Mr. B was first asked why he had not answered the phone before, and then asked why he had called a phone starting with +65 (the international code for Singapore calls). Mr. B explained that he had called Singapore to discuss work matters.

The anti-fraud hotline said that because someone had been defrauded by telephone before, he would contact Mr. B after detecting the call to Singapore, in order to protect the public's property safety. After confirming that Mr. B was not at risk of being defrauded, he hung up the phone on the other end of the anti-fraud line.

Soon after, Mr. B received another phone call from the local police station, and learned from the other party that it was also the Nanmen Police Station who asked him to contact Mr. B.

The bank card was frozen that night

I thought that after the explanation was clear, the matter had come to an end, but I didn't expect that there would be a follow-up.

That night, Mr. B went out to spend money and found that all the bank cards and Alipay in his name had been frozen.

It is reasonable to speculate that the anti-fraud warning hotline could not find Mr. B at first, and fearing that he would be defrauded, first froze all the accounts in his name to prevent the funds from being illegally transferred.

Some netizens were a little surprised by the police's practice of freezing bank accounts.

However, most netizens affirmed the police's practice of "locking cards".

It is understood that Mr. B's bank account has now been unblocked, and the original Weibo post has been deleted.

Some netizens replied to the post that in case of this situation, they can choose to wait for the system to be automatically lifted.

If the general fraud is not established, it will be lifted within 48 hours, and if it is not lifted after 48 hours, you need to take the initiative to contact the Anti-Fraud Center to apply for the cancellation of payment.

If the bank card is successfully defrauded, or is suspected of defrauding others, this situation will not be automatically unfrozen, you can call the service number of the issuing bank, ask about the time of being frozen, which police station was frozen, and then contact the police station for details.

All kinds of scams are frequent

All regions jointly fight fraud

In recent years, various types of fraud have occurred frequently, and Singapore is the hardest hit area, ranking first in the world in terms of average loss. Singapore Eye has reported many cases of fraud.

In order to fight fraud, various departments have also done their best. Last year, the Chinese Embassy in Singapore held a consular protection publicity and education campaign entitled "All or Nothing, Preventing Telecom Fraud", inviting international students and migrant workers in Singapore to watch it.

In order to combat international fraudulent calls, Singapore's Infocomm Media Development Authority has stepped in to block calls from overseas for Singaporean mobile phone users.

Finally, I hope everyone can keep their eyes open and avoid being deceived!
