The new Cabinet was also sworn in. Minister of Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister, while Heng Swee Keat remained as Deputy Prime Minister. Lee Hsien Loong, who stepped down as prime minister, was appointed Senior Minister of State after the official handover of the reinforce. Mr Wong said he was Singapore's first post-independence prime minister, and that most of his colleagues in the fourth-generation leadership team were like him.
