On May 15, China Shipbuilding 711 held a performance demonstration and technical seminar on 210mm methanol fuel marine medium speed engine. More than 50 representatives from superior authorities, shipowners, design institutes, OEMs and societies were invited to attend the meeting to witness the demonstration of the performance indicators of the first CS21DF-M methanol fuel medium-speed engine with a substitution rate of more than 90% in mainland China and the whole process of dual-fuel mode switching, and conducted in-depth discussions on the future development and industrial application of methanol fuel engine, so as to take the pulse of the development of green shipping in mainland China.
CS21DF-M methanol fuel medium speed engine has a cylinder diameter of 210mm, a single cylinder power of 200kW, the power of the whole machine can cover 800-1800kW, the rated speed is 1000r/min, the highest replacement rate is over 90%, and can reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 60% and sulfur oxide emissions by up to 99%.
The achievement of the 90% methanol substitution rate target marks that China has become one of the few countries in the world with the ability to develop methanol dual-fuel medium-speed engines with high substitution rate. Under the traction of the independent development of methanol medium-speed machine with high substitution rate, the project will also drive the coordinated development of the upstream and downstream industrial chains, and at the same time lead the green and low-carbon transformation of ship power, it will also create a new economic growth point for the green development of the industry.
Following the signing of the first set of application agreements with Changhang Group at the end of 2023, today, 711 signed a cooperation agreement with Shanghai Dingheng Shipping Technology Co., Ltd. and Wuhan Chuangxin Jianghai Transportation Co., Ltd. for a 5,300-ton stainless steel chemical ocean-going vessel and a 15,000-ton river-sea direct ship supporting CS21DF-M methanol fuel medium-speed engine. According to the agreement, 711 will successively provide products for the two companies in 2025, opening the prelude to the application of the mainland's own brand methanol fuel medium-speed engine market.
