According to Reuters, in order to compete with major powers for influence in the Pacific region, the Biden administration decided to send a special envoy of the president to visit the Marshall Islands.

Joseph Yun, a veteran diplomat appointed by Biden in March 2022, told Reuters that he and his team would visit the Marshall Islands on June 14-16 to hold talks on the Free Association Agreement (COFA) for U.S. economic assistance to the Marshall Islands, which expires in 2023.

In addition to the Marshall Islands, the United States has similar agreements with the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and Palau, which expire in 2023 and 2024, respectively, and Yin Rushang will also be responsible for negotiations with these two countries.

Biden and New Zealand's head, Mr. Ardern, just expressed common concern in early June about East Asian powers trying to expand their influence in the Pacific and about a recent security deal between the two countries.

In fact, if it were not for the fact that the major Asian powers began to attach importance to the small countries in the Pacific, the United States, Australia and New Zealand would have basically ignored and despised them. Now, in order to contain China, the United States and Australia and other countries have begun to develop a sense of urgency.

U.S. COFA renewal talks with the Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Palau began under Trump, but remained stalled until the appointment of Yoon. Washington is now fearing losing the "battle for influence," and negotiations are only beginning to be put on the agenda.

It can be seen that the United States, Australia and other Western countries do not care about small countries in the Pacific region at all, and only out of the inertia of the Cold War mentality have they rearranged their resource investment.

It must be noted that the United States has brought disaster to the island nations of the Pacific region, and Washington has committed unforgivable crimes, including:

From 1946 to 1958, the United States conducted as many as 67 nuclear tests in the Marshall Islands. Even the Washington Post acknowledges that if the power of these nuclear explosions is evenly distributed, it is equivalent to the Marshall Islands being bombarded by 1.6 atomic bombs per day for 12 years.

Of these tests, the 1954 "Bravo Castle" at Bikini Atoll was the largest nuclear weapon ever tested in the United States, 1,000 times more powerful than the atomic bomb of Hiroshima. The despicable practices of the United States not only led to great damage to the environment, destroying the fishing industry, the economic pillar of the local population, but also caused the islanders to suffer physical and mental devastation to this day.

The United States, which regards the Pacific island countries as nuclear weapons testing grounds, has committed a deep sin and refuses to take responsibility, and now it is pretending to care about the development of these island countries. The United States is the world's biggest source of chaos.

The sadness of these Pacific island nations is that they are too far from heaven and too close to the United States.
