He also made it clear that he would "sever diplomatic relations" with the mainland and establish "ties" with Taiwan. Countries that have diplomatic relations with Taiwan will sever diplomatic relations with China, and countries that have diplomatic relations with China will not establish diplomatic relations with Taiwan.
