This year marks the 85th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre. This morning, the opening ceremony of the exhibition of calligraphy works entitled "Remembering History and Creating the Future -- The 85th Anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre" was held in the multi-functional hall on the first floor of the Historical Materials Exhibition Hall of the Memorial Hall of the Nanjing Massacre Victims of the Japanese Invasion of China. The event was hosted by the Memorial Hall and the Nanjing Calligraphers Association, and hosted by the National Institute of Memory and International Peace and the Nanjing Society for the Study of the History of the Nanjing Massacre by the Japanese Invasion of China.

The exhibition is divided into four parts: the first part exhibits a total of 13 works, and the creative content is the classic quotations of General Secretary Xi Jinping who have talked about history and peace many times on different occasions, such as "peace is as warm as sunshine and moist as rain and dew"; the second part exhibits a total of 20 works, and the calligraphy content is ancient and modern Chinese and foreign famous sayings and aphorisms, such as "the past is not forgotten, the teacher of the future", etc., so that people can learn from the past and know the truth, know the world and understand the truth; the third part exhibits a total of 15 works. The content contains a lot of nanjing massacre survivors' skin-to-skin dissections of the past, for example, survivor Li Xiuying once said: "Remember history, don't remember hatred", which has moved countless people. After experiencing the pain of life and death, the survivors did not forget to ask people to remember history and face the future; the fourth part exhibited a total of 57 works, mainly showing the true feelings of domestic and foreign audiences after visiting the memorial hall in recent years. For example, "We never forget the dead, and the living have an obligation to never cause pain to others again!" "Let the world remember that maintaining peace is the common voice of people at home and abroad."
Xie Shaocheng, vice chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Book Association and chairman of the Nanjing Book Association, introduced that the calligraphers participating in this calligraphy exhibition were selected by the Nanjing Book Association after repeated brewing, including many old, middle-aged and young calligraphy masters who won gold and silver in various calligraphy exhibition competitions across the country and made outstanding achievements for the cause of calligraphy in Nanjing. He said, "The exhibition took only 12 days from the call for papers to the deadline. After receiving the invitation, the authors worked hard and worked overtime to create. Some authors have extremely high requirements for their works, writing more than 50 works, and only then selecting the most satisfactory one. Some authors travel on business, create on the road, write and send them back to Nanjing. Other authors persist in their creations despite their serious illness. Through the author's artistic conception and emotional expression, the exhibited works allow the audience to get a refreshing look! ”
Chen Peng, a post-80s calligrapher, a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, a standing director of the Nanjing Calligraphers Association, and the chairman of the Nanjing Young Calligraphers Association, wrote a congratulatory letter from Xi Jinping to the commemoration of the 2018 International Day of Peace on September 19, 2018 for this calligraphy exhibition. Chen Peng said that he wrote this picture in one go, "It has been a long time since I wrote it, and I want to reflect the feeling of solemnity, solemnity and zhengda weather." Among them, I used the han Dynasty Jianshu, Lishu and other ancient text elements to synthesize, and overall conveyed cultural self-confidence to the audience. ”
Wu Yibing, a post-90s calligrapher, a member of the Jiangsu Calligraphers Association, and a director of the Nanjing Calligraphers Association, is a native of Nanjing. For this exhibition of calligraphy works, he wrote a message from the president of the Portuguese Socialist Party, Maria de Belém Rosella, when he visited the museum. Wu Yibing said that it took him two afternoons to write three or four drafts to be satisfied, "I am a Native of Nanjing, I learned about the history of the Nanjing Massacre since I was a child, and when I was in elementary school and junior high school, the school organized us to visit the memorial hall." I think this is a city memory, and we can live in a peaceful and stable environment today, which is the price paid by our predecessors. I want to tell the audience through my works that we must remember this history. ”
