Why do some people drink alcohol every day but are in good health?

This is a typical example of refuting a general conclusion with a single case, which is illogical. Physical condition is related to genetic factors, nutritional status, exercise and even gender and race, and there are obvious individual differences in alcohol metabolism. However, alcohol has long been recognized by the World Health Organization as a Class 1 carcinogen, that is, a substance with solid evidence and a clear relationship with cancer, and we are best exempt from it.

It may subvert our traditional concept of "moderate drinking, good health", but if the harm of long-term excessive drinking is indeed very large, it can lead to more than 200 kinds of diseases and injuries, damaging various systems, such as the digestive system, cardiovascular system, nervous system, immune system [1]; drinking alcohol and common oral cancer, laryngeal cancer, esophageal cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, esophageal cancer, stomach cancer and pancreatic cancer are directly related. The active beneficial ingredients in red wine and white wine are small witches in the face of the harm of alcohol.

The more direct evidence comes from the following. Population statistics, the results of large epidemiological studies show that the more people drink, the higher the probability of cancer. Animal testing: For example, long-term addition of alcohol to the drinking water of mice will significantly increase the probability of cancer in mice. The latest research shows that 5.5% of cancers and 5.8% of cancer deaths worldwide are caused by alcohol. A study from the BMJ (British Medical Journal) found that even a small amount of alcohol increased the risk of cancer. Therefore, the best option is not to drink alcohol at all. We recommend that if you can drink it, you can drink it, and if you can drink less, you can drink less.

As the Spring Festival approaches, if it is difficult to avoid a drink during the gathering, you can follow the recommendations of the Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents[2], such as drinking alcohol should be limited. The limit value recommended by the Chinese Nutrition Society for adults to drink alcohol in moderation is that the amount of alcohol consumed by adult men in a day does not exceed 25g, which is equivalent to 750ml of beer, or 250ml of wine, or 75g of liquor of 38 °, or 50g of high liquor; the amount of alcohol consumed by adult women in a day does not exceed 15g, which is equivalent to 450ml of beer, or 150ml of wine, or 50g of liquor of 38 °. Pregnant women, children and adolescents should avoid alcohol.
