After 6 years, the "Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents" has finally been updated! On the morning of April 26, the Chinese Nutrition Society officially released the Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents (2022) (hereinafter referred to as the Guidelines).

The reporter combed the content and found that there were five major changes, among them, for the first time, the dietary model in the southeast coastal area represented the mainland's "Oriental Healthy Diet Model", advocating rich vegetables and fruits, often eating aquatic products such as fish and shrimp, soybean products and milk, cooking light and salt, etc. Professor Jiang Zhuoqin of the Department of Nutrition of the School of Public Health of Sun Yat-sen University, and Ma Wenjun, director of the Clinical Nutrition Department of Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, combined with the characteristics of Guangdong's diseases and dietary preferences, made a detailed interpretation of the new version of the "Guide".

Five major changes update adjustments

Special emphasis is placed on the use of public chopsticks to divide meals

Looking at the 2022 edition of the "Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents", the reporter found that there are five adjustments:

First, the 2016 version of the Guide said that "food is diverse, cereals are dominant", and the 2022 version was changed to "food variety, reasonable combination". Ma Wenjun, director of the Clinical Nutrition Department of Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, pointed out that at present, mainland residents eat too finely, so they emphasize the diversity of food, thus highlighting the importance of reasonable collocation.

Second, the 2022 edition of the "Guidelines" recommends animal food 120 to 200 grams, aquatic products at least 2 times a week, and one egg per day, that is, we eat aquatic products at least 2 times a week. Jiang Zhuoqin pointed out that the country eats more livestock meat, especially pork, and aquatic products are lower in fat than livestock meat, and the fatty acids contained are more conducive to protecting the cardiovascular system; and the nutritional benefits of eating an egg every day are much higher than the impact of its cholesterol.

Third, in the dietary guidelines, a new "regular meals, adequate drinking" has been added.

"Drinking too little water can reduce cognitive performance and physical fitness and increase the risk of urinary tract diseases. However, the current trend of young people drinking sugary drinks is more obvious. Jiang Zhuoqin pointed out that excessive intake of sugary drinks will increase the risk of caries, overweight and obesity, type 2 diabetes, and dyslipidemia. In addition, the weather in Guangdong is hot, the incidence of urinary stone disease is high, and Guangdong people should pay special attention to "regular meals and adequate water".

Fourth, the dietary guidelines have newly added "will cook, will choose, will look at the label". Jiang Zhuoqin said that nutrition labels should pay attention to the indicators of energy, fat and sodium, and if the amount of exercise of the eater is not large, try to choose low-energy, low-fat and low-sodium foods.

Fifth, the 2022 edition of "milk and dairy products 300 ~ 500 grams" is broader than the 2016 recommended 300 grams. Jiang Zhuoqin pointed out that if the intake exceeds 500 grams, it is recommended to consume low-fat cheese or milk. The new version of the Guidelines reduces salt to five grams, and the WHO recommends the same standard, which is also a highlight.

In addition, the dietary guidelines also place special emphasis on "public chopsticks to divide meals". Obviously, the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia epidemic in recent years has prompted us to pay attention to public health and personal hygiene, and adhere to sanitary measures such as public chopsticks and spoons, meal sharing, etc., which can avoid the occurrence and spread of foodborne diseases, which is of great significance to ensuring public health.

Proposed for the first time the "Oriental Healthy Diet Model"

Guangdong light diet and original taste is just a demonstration

The "Guidelines" for the first time proposed to represent the mainland's "Oriental Healthy Diet Model" with the dietary model of the southeast coastal area, hoping to play a health demonstration role and have better guidance.

It is reported that domestic experts combined with the mainland's recent nutritional investigation and disease monitoring, found that the southeast coastal area (Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Fujian, Guangdong) dietary mode, with vegetables and fruits rich, often eat fish and shrimp and other aquatic products, soybean products and milk, cooking light and salt and other advantages, and the area residents hypertension and cardiovascular disease incidence and mortality rate is low, life expectancy is high. Therefore, the Guidelines for the first time propose that the dietary pattern along the southeast coast represents the mainland's "Oriental Healthy Dietary Model".

Jiang Zhuoqin said that Guangdong residents' habits of light diet, preference for fresh ingredients and original taste (less oil, less salt, less sugar) diet and cooking mode have been recognized and promoted nationwide, which is also one of the reasons why the incidence of chronic diseases (obesity, hypertension, coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease) in Guangdong is lower than that of northwestern provinces and longer life.
