Who drinks red and white-faced, who drinks more? The answer is surprising!

At the wine table, two types of people are often encountered: one type of person, a glass of wine under the belly, the face suddenly turns red; the other, the more you drink, the whiter the face. Some people say that "people who drink and blush drink a lot of alcohol", and some people say that "people who drink white can really drink".

When drinking, why do some people's faces change? What is the relationship between the face and the amount of alcohol?

Drinking blushing, that's poisoning!

To understand the reasons for the change in the face after drinking, we must first understand roughly what the alcohol in the wine (that is, "ethanol") goes through after entering the body, and how our body processes this ethanol.

After alcohol enters the human body, it mainly undergoes three metabolic processes:

In the first step, ethanol is metabolized to acetaldehyde;

In the second step, acetaldehyde is metabolized to acetic acid;

In the third step, acetic acid is metabolized into carbon dioxide and water and excreted.

Because the third metabolic process is very simple, don't pay too much attention. The main two steps that affect the metabolism of alcohol in the body are the first two steps.

In these first two steps, the key ones are:

The "ethanol dehydrogenase (ADH)" that plays a role in the first step is responsible for breaking down ethanol into acetaldehyde;

The "acetaldehyde dehydrogenase ( ALDH ) , which plays a role in the second step — is responsible for breaking down acetaldehyde into acetic acid.

The amount of alcohol in a person is basically determined by the activity of these two enzymes in the person's body.

The next is the point, about the matter of drinking blushing, anecdotal rumors "drinking blushing because alcohol decomposition is relatively poor", in fact, it is not so, drinking blush is precisely because alcohol decomposes "too fast", the subsequent acetaldehyde decomposition rate has not kept up, resulting in alcohol decomposition produced by acetaldehyde being piled up in the body.

The reason why alcohol decomposes faster than acetaldehyde may be that the enzyme that breaks down ethanol is too strong, or the enzyme that breaks down acetaldehyde is too weak.

Acetaldehyde, this kind of thing, is toxic, is such as fake replacement of carcinogens, on the one hand, it will directly stimulate the human circulatory system, dilate blood vessels, resulting in a flushed face (some people are more obvious, will be red), on the other hand, it will also stimulate the secretion of adrenal hormones, bringing rapid heartbeat and other manifestations.

So, unfortunately, drinking wine and blushing is, in the final analysis, a symptom of acetaldehyde poisoning.

People who drink wine and blush, as long as they drink a little wine, the body begins to accumulate toxic acetaldehyde, resulting in people being uncomfortable, so often the amount of alcohol is very "weak chicken".

If people who insist on drinking and blush drinking heavily, a large amount of carcinogenic acetaldehyde accumulates in the body (mainly in the liver), which may also increase the chance of liver cancer [1]. Therefore, when persuading wine, please let go of those who drink and blush...

Drinking white, although high but suddenly drunk!

Compared with people who drink and blush, people who drink white seem to be more tragic, not only are the enzymes that break down acetaldehyde in the body too weak, but even the enzyme that breaks down alcohol in the first step is also very weak, and alcohol can only be slowly decomposed little by little by the slow-moving P450 oxidase in the liver. In this way, a large amount of alcohol cannot be broken down in the body, and it directly enters the blood circulation and roams in the body.

Unlike acetaldehyde, which makes people feel uncomfortable, alcohol is something that can make people feel very "cool". It can not only paralyze nerves, relieve pain and discomfort, but also excite nerves, making people "good hi yo". It is precisely because of this wonderful double effect of alcohol on the nervous system that alcohol brings people a "cool" feeling, but at the same time, it also brings addiction.

Speaking of people who drink white faces, alcohol makes them "cool" at the same time, because a large amount of alcohol enters the blood, the body's peripheral capillaries will contract, and a large amount of blood will concentrate on the core area inside the body, and the skin will appear pale, which is why these people's faces are whiter and whiter the more they drink.

When the alcohol concentration in bodily fluids does not exceed 0.1%, these people will drink, turn white, and cool at the same time (or go crazy while drinking...). It may seem as if the amount of alcohol is very good, but once the alcohol concentration in the bodily fluid reaches and exceeds 0.1%, these white-faced drinkers will "suddenly fail" and directly fall into a coma. And at this time, they are also prone to acute alcoholism.

Even if acute alcoholism does not occur, these pale drinkers still have to face the risk of liver cancer from heavy alcohol intake.

Therefore, when persuading alcohol, please let go of those "white-faced people" who can't even decompose alcohol well...

What kind of people drink a lot of alcohol?

The real people among the drunkards and the fighters among the drunkards are those who are strong in ethanol dehydrogenase and acetaldehyde dehydrogenase. Their entire alcohol metabolism chain is usually extremely smooth, basically can be poured into the wine, carbon dioxide and water run out, the face is not red or white, neither uncomfortable, nor too high.

Such people are basically the darlings of fate, they are born with super strong ADH and ALDH genes, and those who blush or white face after a glass of wine have only envy.

Therefore, the amount of alcohol cannot be practiced by practicing. To let people who blush or turn white as soon as they drink drink practice drinking is simply to make them suffer continuously.

Can these people with large quantities of alcohol be identified at the wine table? In fact, they still have some characteristics.

Next time at the wine table, you can carefully observe that those who really drink well are actually those who start to sweat as soon as they drink, and those who start running the toilet to "walk the kidney" after a cup or two. Because the enzymes that break down ethanol and acetaldehyde are very powerful, they quickly metabolize alcohol into water and carbon dioxide, which are excreted with sweating and urination [2].

When you meet such people at the wine table, it is best to have a little number, and do not fight with them.
