April 2 news, smart's first pure electric SUV model smart genie #1 is set for April 7 officially released. The new car is produced by Geely's global factories and will be exported to the European market in the future, and will be officially delivered to the first batch of domestic users before the end of this year.

The new car will be built based on Geely's new Vast SEA structure, which is the first model launched after the establishment of a joint venture between Geely and Mercedes-Benz, "Smart Motor", and the first domestic model of the Smart brand.

Previously, various spy photos of the new car have been exposed, and the appearance of smart genie #1 basically follows the design concept of the concept version, using a closed front face and retaining the shape of the front through-beam light strip. The roof is designed in two colors, and the C and D pillars on the side are also designed with unique shapes.
The new car has a length, width and height of 4290/1910/1698mm, a wheelbase of 2750mm, and four wheels in the four corners of the body, bringing a considerable wheelbase performance. In terms of details, the new car abandons the two-door design on the concept car and adds hidden door handles.
The design of the rear part of the car is relatively simple, and the same use of through tail lights, echoing the front of the car. The position of the vehicle's license plate frame is placed on the bumper under the trunk cover, and the design of multiple curved dimensions creates a good sense of layering. The "smart" logo will still be hung on the front and rear of the new car.

The interior part has not been fully disclosed, according to the previous spy photos, the new car is equipped with a 12.8-inch suspension screen, equipped with a new "smart universe" intelligent human-computer interaction system, and equipped with a shift gear shift mechanism, which is more "Mercedes-Benz style" in the overall design style.

Unlike the traditional Smart brand model, due to the wider body of the Smart Genie #1, the new car also provides a more spacious center control platform, and the lateral space in the car is expected to be considerable. In the previous concept car, the rear of the new car was a two-seat layout, while providing an oversized panoramic canopy overhead.
In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with a rear motor, and the maximum power is expected to exceed 200kW, and a dual-motor four-wheel drive performance version will also be launched, and the cruising range of WLTP conditions is expected to exceed 430km.
In fact, this is not the first pure electric model of the Smart brand, in 2006, the Smart brand first launched the fortow EV model, but the launch of smart genie #1 is more in line with the current global electrification wave, and with the localization of Geely, a Chinese car company, it will be more conducive to the development of the model in the domestic market.
