Colonel Xiao Jialu was born in 1945 in Hucheng Town, Liangping District, Chongqing. He joined the army in March 1965 and joined the party in the same year. He participated in the counterattack against Vietnamese self-defense and was awarded the third class merit. He was successively transferred to the Political Department of the Border Defense Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security and the Armed Police Force of the Chinese People. Retired former director of the Cultural Department of the Political Department of the Chinese People's Armed Police Force, and researcher of the Research Office of the Political Department.
Influenced by his teachers in elementary school, he has loved calligraphy since childhood. Starting from Liu Gongquan, he also learned the standard cursive thousand character text of The Confucian Classic, and Wang Xizhi, Wang Xianzhi, Sun Guoting, Mi Fu, Han Li and Wei Bei. His works have been exhibited at the National Art Museum of China, and he has also participated in the National Touring Exhibition of Calligraphy along the Belt and Road Initiative, and has been featured in various works many times. He is a member of the Chinese Hard Pen Research Society. Together with Qi Gong, chairman of the China Book Association, Shao Yu, vice chairman, Liu Bingsen, Tong Wei, Ouyang Zhongshi, Li Duo and other calligraphers, he organized and reviewed the "First National Standard Chinese Character Calligraphy Competition", which achieved complete success and won high praise from the calligraphy session.
