Born in 1955 in Fushan, Shandong Province, Guo Rongrong grew up under the Red Banner with a strong patriotic heart, so he joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army at the age of 19 and worked as a literary and artistic soldier in the political department of the 162nd Division.
Although they are only literary and artistic soldiers, but they usually receive training is not less than others, except for some military, Guo Rongrong mainly attacked ballet, her body shape is very good, plus very hard, even if injured, she insisted, so soon there were results, Guo Rongrong, who danced on the stage, was called "ballet goddess" by her comrades-in-arms.
Her professionalism was also seen by her superiors, and it was not long before she was promoted to deputy squad leader, and later promoted to film team projectionist, which now seems to be nothing, but the era when there was no choice in entertainment methods was also a "heavy responsibility", as long as it was done well, there were more opportunities for promotion.
After Guo Rongrong arrived at the film team, in addition to screening the film, she also did a good job in the previous publicity work, whether it was a theatrical performance or hosting a meeting, she performed extremely well, and she was also a star-level figure in the 162nd Division.
If it can continue like this, Guo Rongrong's life will also be very smooth, but unfortunately all this has been changed by the war.
Shortly after New Year's Day in 1979, the leaders of the division's political department approached Guo Rongrong and told her that she had been promoted to the head of the screening team, and at the same time told her that the troops were going south.
The two consecutive things made her happy and a little worried, the leader of the screening team has been counted as a cadre, she has not been in the army for a long time to get this heavy responsibility, it can be seen that she is also very capable, and the place of worry is that she is afraid that she will not be able to complete the work well. So in the days that followed, she threw herself more seriously.
On February 19, the 162nd Division left Shuikou Pass, Guo Rongrong and other female comrades were assigned to the wounded and martyr group, when the troops settled down, set up tents and dug anti-artillery holes, Guo Rongrong made great efforts, their main task was to take care of the wounded, transport the remains of martyrs back to China, and run between the front line and the rear every day.
At that time, the main Vietnamese troops were quickly scattered, but instead turned into guerrillas, seriously threatening China's transportation lines, and Guo Rongrong's small detachment without the main escort was easily targeted, dancing on the tip of the knife every time.
The early days were relatively lucky, but on February 26, they were ambushed, and on this afternoon, Guo Rongrong and the wounded martyrs went to the front line to transport the remains of the martyrs back to China, and after completing the task, they rushed back to the Vietnamese garrison empty-handed, and as a result, they encountered an ambush by the Vietnamese army on the mountain road in the evening, and a bullet directly hit Guo Rongrong's neck and died on the spot.
The driver of the car was also hit in the foot, and the rest of the people in the car rushed to hide in the nearby mountains, and the ambushed Vietnamese troops rushed over and set the truck on fire, and the next day the members of the wounded group found her ashes in the pile of wreckage and loaded it for transport back home.
At that time, Guo Rongrong was only 24 years old, she was the first female soldier to die against the Vietnamese counterattack, and the only female soldier whose body could not be transported back to China, the most sad thing was that her job was to transport the remains of the martyrs back to China, but in the end her own body could not go back, and her ashes were buried in the Longzhou Martyrs Cemetery in Guangxi. After her death, the Political Department of the 162nd Division recorded her as a third-class merit.
