On this day, Guo Rongrong received orders from her superiors, she and several other comrades-in-arms to go to the Gaoping forward position to escort the martyrs back to China, at that time, the main forces of the Vietnamese side were all defeated by our army, but the remnants formed a guerrilla group, often at night or in a secluded place, hidden behind the cold gun, so that people could not be defended, especially like Guo Rongrong, a small detachment without the main escort, it was easy to be regarded as a sneak attack target, and every time it was danced on the tip of the knife.
After Guo Rongrong's group of fighters arrived in Gaoping by truck, they rushed to carry the bodies of the fallen soldiers onto the truck, and then quickly set off to return to China. On the way back to China, in order to prevent being attacked by Vietnamese guerrillas, Guo Rongrong carried a submachine gun in the cab of the truck to warn everyone. When the convoy reached a mountain forest, gunshots suddenly sounded, and dozens of Vietnamese troops suddenly rushed out of the woods on both sides of the road to launch a fierce attack on the squad, she saw the Vietnamese rushing out, she immediately returned fire with submachine guns, but unfortunately was hit by a bullet from the Vietnamese army in the carotid artery.

Guo Rongrong was the first female martyr to die in the Vietnamese self-defense counterattack and the only female soldier of the Chinese and our army to die, and the next day, the deputy instructor of the Ninth Company returned to the place, collected her unburned body, burned it on the spot, and brought the ashes back to China. After the war, she was buried in the Longzhou Martyrs' Cemetery in Guangxi, and her superiors posthumously remembered Guo Rongrong's third-class merits, so that future generations will always remember her name.
