When I was a child, I loved to listen to fairy tales and stories, many of which still live in my memory... I tell these stories in my own way: rewriting them where I think they are appropriate and using my imagination to bring the painting, which is beginning to fade, back to life. —Hans Christian Andersen

There are some books in the world that can really be read from small to old, and the fairy tales of the great Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) are like this.

It's lovely summer in the countryside, and the yellow wheat, the green oats, and the hay stacks on the pasture look really beautiful. The stork paced around with his long red legs, grunting in Egyptian, which he had learned from his mother. Wheat fields and pastures are surrounded by large woods with some deep ponds in the woods. Walking around this country is really enjoyable.

Right here, in a place where the sun shines, there is an old house. Surrounding the deep ditch, from the thick wall of the old house to the edge of the trench, burdock is densely covered. Their leaves were large, their stems were high, and those of the tallest, small children could even stand upright under them, imagining themselves in the middle of a desolate dense forest. In such a quiet and comfortable place, a female duck was crouching in her nest waiting for her little duck to hatch; she had hatched impatiently, for it took a long time for the duckling to emerge from its shell, and it was rare for anyone to come to see her. Other ducks would rather swim in the river than climb up the slippery banks and squat under burdock leaves to chat with her.

But in the end, one eggshell finally cracked, and then another, one after another, came out of each eggshell with a living duck, looking up and shouting, "Twitter, twitter." ”

"Quack, quack." The hen said, "Look around." So the little ducks did what their mother said, and looked east and west toward the big green leaves around them. The mother duck let them see enough because green is good for the eyes.

"What a big world." The ducklings chirped, because now their world was bigger than the one in the eggshell.

"Do you think this is the whole world?" The mother duck quacked and said, "The world is much bigger than you can see, and it stretches far and wide, all the way to the priest's field, but even I don't dare to go that far." Are you all out? She said as she stood up. I have to say, not yet, the biggest egg is still there motionless. I don't know how long it will take. I was so tired. She said and squatted down in the nest again.

"Hello, how's the incubation?" An old hen who came to see her asked.

"There's an egg that hasn't hatched yet," said the duckling, "and it won't crack." But look at the others, aren't they the prettiest ducklings you've ever seen? They're like their dads. The guy was so bad he didn't come to see me once. ”

"Let me see which egg refuses to crack," said the old hen, "I think it is undoubtedly a turkey egg." Once I was deceived, and I had hatched a few of these eggs, and I was fed up with the little ones, and I was so distressed that they were afraid of the water. I sometimes say nicely and sometimes quack, but it doesn't work at all. I couldn't get them to go into the water. Let me see this egg. That's right, it's a turkey egg. Listen to me, let it go, and teach the other ducks to swim. ”

"I think I'll incubate a little longer," said the hen, "and I've been incubating for so long that it's okay to hatch for a few more days." ”

"Then do as you please." The old hen said and left.

The big egg finally cracked, and a small thing crawled out and shouted, "Twitter, twitter." "He's big and ugly.

The female duck looked at him and said, "He's too big, not at all like the other ducklings." I wondered if he would really be a turkey. But when you get to the water's edge, you'll know. He had to go into the water, and I had to push him down. ”

The next day the weather was very good, and the sun shone brightly on the green burdock leaves, so the mother duck took her little ducks to the water's edge, and she herself jumped down with a thud. "Quack, quack." She beckoned, and the ducklings immediately jumped into the water one by one. The water flooded their heads, but they immediately emerged again, their legs paddling easily under the water, swimming very well, and the ugly ducklings also swam with everyone in the water.

"Oh," said Mother Duck, "he's not a turkey, how sharp his legs are, how straight his body is!" He's my kid, and as long as he looks good, he's not so ugly and handsome. Quack, quack! Come with me now, and I will take you into the big circle and let you know the relatives and friends of the duck farm, but you must keep an eye on me, or you will be trampled on; and most importantly, watch out for the cat. ”

When I was a child, I loved to listen to fairy tales and stories, many of which still live in my memory

When they came to the duck farm, there was a lot of noise, and the ducks of the two families were fighting for an eel head, and in the end, the eel head was snatched away by the cat.

"See, children, this is how the world is!" The mother duck drooled and said, because she herself wanted to eat the eel head, "Okay, let's go, step on your legs, and let me see how well you are." You must bow deeply to the duck lady opposite; she is the noblest of all those ducks, of Spanish descent, and therefore she is the most magnanimous. Don't you see that she had a red cloth wrapped around one of her legs, which was a very remarkable thing, the highest honor a duck could receive; it showed that no one wanted to lose her, and with this red cloth man and animal could recognize her. Well, come now, don't twist your toes, a cultured little duck is spreading his feet wide, like his dad and mom, like this; now bow and say 'quack'. ”

The ducks did as they were told, but the other ducks looked at them and said, "Look, there's another one, as if we don't have enough ducks!" One of them has always been an ugly bastard, and we don't want him here. Then a duck flew out and pecked at the neck of the ugly duckling.

"Don't peck at him," said mother duck, "he's not in the way." ”

"Yes, yes, but he is so big and so ugly," said the malevolent duck, "and therefore he must be driven away." ”

"The other little ducks are beautiful," said the old hen with a red stripe of cloth wrapped around her legs, "and get rid of that one; I hope his mother will make him look better." ”

"That can't be done, old lady," replied the mother duck, "but he is not pretty, but he has a very good disposition, and swims as well as any other duckling, even better." I suppose he would grow up to be pretty, maybe to become smaller; he had been in the egg for too long, so his body shape was not quite normal. Then she stroked his neck with her mouth, smoothed his feathers, and said, "He's a male duck, so it doesn't matter if he does that." I think he'll be able to grow strong and take care of himself. ”

"The other ducklings are quite cute," said the old hen, "well, then you can just stay and send me an eel head if you can find it." ”

So they settled down here, but the poor duckling, who finally came out of his shell and looked ugly, was always beaten, pushed around, and made people laugh. Not only did the ducks do this to him, but even the chickens did this to him. "He's too big!" They all said. There was a male turkey born with a distance on his feet, thinking that he was really an emperor, and his toes were as high as a ship with sails full of wind, and he pounced on the ugly duckling, and his face was red with anger. Therefore, the poor little fellow did not know where to hide, but only felt very sad, because he looked so ugly, and was teased by the chickens and ducks in the whole farm yard.
