In the past two years, the development of Chinese brands in hybrid technology can be said to be a hundred flowers, BYD DM-i, Changan iDD, Chery Kunpeng DHT, Great Wall DHT-PHEV mushroomed, the loss of electricity fuel consumption is one lower than one, and all are plug-in hybrid vehicles, when purchasing can enjoy the policy benefits of exemption from purchase tax, purchase costs and use costs have certain advantages.

BYD Tang DM-i/DM-p:
The two hybrid systems have their own emphases, but they are biased
BYD Tang's two hybrid systems focus on fuel economy and power performance, DM-i is more fuel efficient, with a minimum fuel consumption of only 5.3L/100km, but the acceleration performance is the weakest of the four models. The DM-p is the most powerful, but the fuel consumption is the highest of the four models, reaching 7.5L/100km.
In contrast, although the two hybrid systems of BYD Tang are very clearly positioned and can meet the needs of different groups of people, they are more partial.
Weipai Mocha DHT-PHEV:
The largest size, the longest pure electric life, but the most expensive

However, in addition to the low fuel consumption, Changan UNI-K iDD does not have too many highlights, the motor power is the smallest of the four cars, zero hundred acceleration is only a little faster than the Tang DM-i, if it is accelerated than the pure electric mode, it may be the weakest. And sitting on the second highest 30.7kWh battery power in the whole field, Changan UNI-K iDD has only made a pure electric endurance of 130km, which is really difficult to doubt its electronic control capabilities.

Which is the stronger technical strength?
After looking at the comparison of parameters on the surface of the four cars, let's take a look at the differences in hybrid technology of each family.
From the perspective of hybrid structure, BYD DM-p and Changan iDD hybrid systems are relatively close, they basically retain the original fuel vehicle architecture, and add motors in the middle of the engine and gearbox to achieve hybridization. Their advantage is that the cost of modification is lower, the disadvantage is that they rely more on engine drive when they lose power, and the driving texture is close to that of fuel vehicles, and it is difficult to completely eliminate the frustration of transmission shifting.
The BYD DM-i, Great Wall DHT-PHEV and Chery Kunpeng DHT have all made significant changes to the original fuel vehicle architecture, simplifying the gearbox structure and focusing on motor drive. The engine is mainly used to drive generators to generate electricity and auxiliary drive, even in a state of loss of power. Therefore, their driving texture is closer to that of electric vehicles, with better smoothness, and there is almost no setback caused by the drivetrain. Their disadvantage is that the original architecture is larger, the gearbox is simplified, but the overall system may become more complex (note: only possible) and the requirements for electronic control capabilities are higher, and they cannot rely on the mature engine and gearbox experience in the past, and need to be re-verified by the market.
Specific to the composition, structure and working mode of each hybrid system, we will not expand here, we will only talk about the most important technical characteristics and advantages and disadvantages of each hybrid system.
BYD DM-i:
The hardware structure is the simplest, and the software strength is outstanding
BYD's DM-i system is the simplest structure of the above several hybrid systems, which is equivalent to adding a set of clutches and reduction gears on the basis of extender hybridization, so that the engine can also participate in the drive under some working conditions. The DM-i system does not have a conventional gearbox, only a single-speed reducer.
It has only a few simple working modes, more is to use the series hybrid mode, that is, the extender mode, the engine drives the generator to power the drive motor and battery, only when the power request is larger, the engine will be added to achieve parallel drive, and only in the case of high speed and low load will the engine direct drive be used. However, it has achieved very good fuel economy and driving texture, which fully reflects BYD's superior electronic control ability and engine fuel saving ability.
At present, the biggest disadvantage of DM-i is that the absolute power is not strong enough, but this can be solved by increasing the battery capacity and increasing the four-wheel drive model in the later stage, in fact, BYD is already doing this.
BYD DM-p
The most powerful, low power generation efficiency
At the beginning of the birth of BYD DM-p, it made the market tremble with the "542 strategy" (5 seconds of acceleration of 100 kilometers, full-time electric four-wheel drive, fuel consumption of 2 liters of 100 kilometers), and on the absolute power performance, whether it was then or now, it is the leader in the hybrid system at the same price.
However, "there is a dragon of electricity, no electricity of a worm" is a problem it can not avoid, because of structural reasons, it is doomed to its power generation efficiency is very low, especially in the case of low power, it needs to frequently start the engine to generate electricity, and limit the motor power output, in order to maintain the minimum power of the battery, resulting in a significant increase in fuel consumption, a significant weakening of power.
Great Wall DHT-PHEV
Large power + two-speed direct drive
Great Wall's DHT-PHEV plug-in hybrid system is closer to BYD's DM-i system, the main difference is that it replaces the single-speed reducer with a two-speed gearbox to achieve direct engine drive under a wider range of working conditions, and the engine can directly drive the wheels at lower speeds and higher loads. At the same time, in the electronic control strategy, it will also use more parallel drive mode, the engine and motor drive the wheels at the same time to reduce the energy conversion loss generated by the engine power generation.
Not only that, the battery capacity of the Great Wall DHT-PHEV is very large, and the battery energy density is high. Like BYD, Great Wall's hybrid batteries are self-sufficient, and Great Wall's Hive Energy is also one of the world's top 10 battery manufacturers.
Chery Kunpeng DHT
Dual motor front drive + 3-speed DHT
Chery, which has always been known as the "polytechnic man in the independent brand", is still very polytechnic male in the hybrid system, unlike many front-drive hybrid models that use a combination of generator + drive motor, Chery let the generator also participate in the drive, using isOG start/power generation integrated motor, to achieve a unique mode of dual motor front drive. At the same time, combined with the 3-gear DHT transmission, Chery Kunpeng DHT can achieve 11 combined gears to cover the scene:
Starting, low- and medium-speed, elevated, overtaking, red light, congestion, high speed, long distance, mountain road, high-speed steering, ice and snow, mud, sand and gravel.
In short, whether it is structural or electronic control complexity, it is the highest in several hybrid systems.
Changan iDD
Large engine + small motor + 6-speed 3-clutch
As mentioned earlier, Changan's iDD and BYD's DM-p are relatively close, both of which have undergone relatively simple changes in the original fuel structure, mainly adding a drive motor and a clutch between the engine and the dual-clutch transmission. At the same time, Changan's iDD hybrid system uses a combination of large engine + small motor, which is more common in European hybrid vehicles, and the engine power is significantly greater than the motor power, so in most cases, the engine is mainly driven, and the motor plays an auxiliary driving role, and reduces the power loss and setback during the shifting process.
Since there is no separate generator, Changan iDD cannot achieve series hybridization, that is, extended range hybrid mode, and when power generation is needed, the motor cannot participate in the drive. However, with the excellent fuel economy and good electronic control level of the Blue Whale engine, the fuel consumption performance of Changan's hybrid system is still quite good.
It is just that its driving texture performance is general, although there will be no "no power a worm" situation, but there are more transmission setbacks in the case of power loss, and the motor power is weaker when pure electric driving.

Which one is worth buying?
After analyzing the parameters and technology, everyone must want to know a direct answer, which one is worth buying?
Overall, combining parameters, technology and price, BYD Tang DM-i and Chery Tiggo 8 PLUS Kunpeng e+ are more recommended.
BYD Tang DM-i has reliable technical strength, with a good market reputation and a large amount of ownership, coupled with the simplest system structure, buy it is a more mainstream, reassuring choice.
And Chery Tiggo 8 PLUS Kunpeng e+ Although it is a little smaller, the configuration is low, and it does not support fast charging, but it is cheaper, fuel consumption is also low, pure electric endurance is also longer, whether it is hybrid mode or pure electric mode, the power is not bad, the top model has 7 seats to choose from, more suitable for friends with tight budgets.
Of course, if the budget is sufficient, Wei brand Mocha DHT-PHEV is equivalent to the enhanced version, the deluxe version of the Tang DM-i (but there is no 7 seats), if the budget is tight and you want everything, Changan UNI-K iDD does have everything, these two cars you want to buy I will not stop.
