Audi Group focuses on China to launch 10 electric vehicles in the future

On March 18, Audi held an online press conference to announce the 2021 financial report. At the same time, Audi also made a detailed report on the latest electrification progress and goals, and said that it will focus on the Chinese market and plans to provide more than ten pure electric vehicle models in the Chinese market in the next few years.

According to the financial report, in 2021, the Audi Group sales revenue was about 53.068 billion euros, the operating profit reached 5.498 billion euros, the operating sales profit margin reached 10.4%, and the net cash flow was as high as 7.757 billion euros. In the Chinese market, Audi's sales revenue amounted to 1.14 billion euros.

Despite the shortage of semiconductor supply, the Audi brand delivered a total of 1680512 cars to customers in 2021, basically the same as in 2020. It is worth noting that the delivery volume of Audi brand pure electric models has grown strongly, with a total of 81,894 pure electric models delivered to customers (2020: 52,011 units), an increase of 57.5% year-on-year.

In 2022, the Audi Group expects to deliver between 1.8 and 1.9 million vehicles, with sales revenue expected to be between 62 billion and 65 billion euros, and operating profit margins between 9% and 11%. Moreover, in the plan for 2022, the Audi Group has taken the Bentley brand into account for the first time, and within the Group, the Audi brand, the Bentley brand, the Ducati brand and the Lamborghini brand will achieve closer cooperation in the future. For example, the parties will jointly develop joint plans for electric mobility and digital technologies. It also plans to deliver more than 3 million vehicles to customers each year from 2030 and plans to achieve an operating sales margin of more than 11%.

At the same time, Audi Group will focus on the Chinese market and further deepen the transformation of electrification. Audi and Volkswagen Group China and their joint venture partners plan to invest around €15 billion in e-mobility in China. In addition to continuing to expand its electric vehicle offerings, it will also invest in autonomous driving and automotive electronics.

From the product point of view, audi Q4 e-tron, Q5 e-tron, e-tron GT and other models will be gradually introduced, and by 2026, 10 pure electric vehicles including Audi A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron series will be launched in the Chinese market.

At the same time, Audi provides a full range of charging services for China's electric vehicle customers, covering both home and public charging scenarios. Audi will provide customers with free Audi charging wall box and installation services, which can be controlled and shared with other designated car owners through the Audi exclusive App. In terms of public charging, by the end of 2021, audi exclusive apps cover 250,000 public charging piles, providing full-process functions from search navigation to payment charging. In addition, Audi also provides one-click power-up services for electric vehicle owners, including mobile charging vehicles and door-to-door car charging.

At the same time, CARIAD, the software division of the Volkswagen Group, has landed in China, accelerating software development and strengthening technical strength. Holoride virtual reality technology is derived from CARIAD, and the virtual reality-based entertainment feature will go to market this summer. In the future, Audi's entire architecture design and development of driver assistance systems will be led by CARIAD.
