But what I would like to share with you most is the story of Jiang Mengnan, a doctoral candidate in bioinformatics at Tsinghua University.
Her achievements seem relatively mundane in the 2021 Person of the Year who moved China, but her story may have more inspiration for our ordinary parents.
When Jiang Mengnan was 6 months old, he was diagnosed by doctors as deaf and mute due to pneumonia, which caused severe deafness in both ears.
But she not only learned to speak with the help of her parents, but also went to school and college entrance examination like an ordinary child, with excellent results, and now she is a doctor at Tsinghua University.
From disabled children to admission to China's top schools, Jiang Mengnan and her parents have turned the impossible into a possibility, and with more than 20 years of experience, they have interpreted what is the miracle of love.

A fever changes everything
But parents choose not to accept their fate
Jiang Mengnan was born in August 1992 to a Yao family in Yizhang County, Chenzhou, Hunan Province.
Her parents are both middle school teachers, more prestigious in the local area, as an intellectual family, Jiang Mengnan's father, is a little proud of him.
When the child was not born, he thought: In the future, if I have a child, I must cultivate him into a talent. At least it is a key university, and even children must go to Tsinghua university and peking university.
But when Jiang Mengnan was 6 months old, an accident changed everything.
Jiang Mengnan's grandfather fell ill, and his parents went to Chenzhou City Hospital, more than 100 kilometers away from home, to take care of him. Jiang Mengnan was cared for by his grandmother, got pneumonia, and had a high fever for more than 10 consecutive days.
At that time, transportation and communication were not developed, until later, when my parents received a telegram from home, they rushed home and sent Jiang Mengnan to the city hospital.
A week later, Jiang Mengnan had a fever, but was diagnosed with severe deafness in both ears.
Parents, who have always been proud, simply cannot accept such a result. They decided that there was something wrong with the hospital's equipment, took Jiang Mengnan, ran all over the major hospitals in Hunan, and finally went to Beijing, but all the doctors told them:
The child's auditory nerve is damaged, which is irreversible.
Doctors in Beijing even comforted Jiang Mengnan's parents: Go to school for the deaf and dumb, after the child learns sign language, normal life will not be a problem.
In most families, so many hospitals have been run, and they have arrived in Beijing, China's top medical resource, and as a result, most parents will admit their fate and give up.
But Jiang Mengnan's parents are not, they do not believe or say, are not willing to let their daughter live in a silent world from now on.
It may be that this unwilling and unwilling background in the bones of the parents makes everything possible later.

The "Irrationality" of Parents
But it gave birth to hope
We all know that children can't hear sounds when they are young, they will miss the critical period of language, and they may learn not to speak for a lifetime.
Despite being judged deaf and mute by medical treatment, Jiang Mengnan's parents have always held out hope. They talked to their daughters every day, non-stop.
When Jiang Mengnan was about 1 year old, they spent 300 yuan to buy a bulky cassette hearing aid.
This kind of box hearing aid is only suitable for hearing loss less than 95 decibels, while Jiang Mengnan's hearing loss is more than 135 decibels, but her parents still wear it for her and keep saying to her...
At that time, Jiang Mengnan's parents were eligible to have a second child, but they resolutely gave up regeneration for the sake of their daughter's hope of speaking.
Even if Jiang Mengnan was judged deaf and mute, they took their children to Beijing for re-examination on time.
After a re-examination, the flame of hope appeared: when they had finished their re-examination from a hospital in Beijing and were preparing to go home, Jiang Mengnan rolled a leather ball to the ground and could not find it.
The child was in a hurry and made a tiny "aaaah" sound that was between "mom" and "daddy" and "daddy" and so on.
This voice excited Jiang Mengnan's parents, like a muffled spring thunder, although it was vague and tiny, it gave Jiang Mengnan's parents unlimited hope.
That night, seeing that his parents were happy, Jiang Mengnan kept making that "ah-ah" sound.
Jiang Mengnan's mother immediately went to the Hunan Speech Rehabilitation Center for Deaf Children to study, and she even obtained the earliest special education qualification certificate in Yizhang County.
After returning home, she took the mirror every day, hugged Jiang Mengnan, let Jiang Mengnan look at the mouth shape of the two people in the mirror, and taught her to speak through lip styling.
At home, parents paste all kinds of wall charts and pictures, as long as they can say and read, they will repeat them over and over again, teaching and correcting their daughters thousands of times to learn to speak.
It is said that parents are the only audience in the first half of a child's life, and in the face of a child who is not good, not good, worse than others, and even congenitally insufficient, if even the parents give up, the child really has no hope.
How fortunate Jiang Mengnan is, she has a pair of parents who will never give up on her.
When the CCTV reporter interviewed Mengnan's parents, he asked: Have you ever been annoyed with the process of teaching children to speak?
Mengnan's parents said: Never bothered. We thought, how to get her to speak. After she spoke, I wondered how to make her speak more clearly.

When Jiang Mengnan was 3 years old, her parents let her go to kindergarten.

When Jiang Mengnan was 6 years old, it was time to go to primary school, but no school was willing to accept it, she could only postpone going to school for one year, and at the age of 7, she enrolled as an auditor.
Sitting in the front row, she could only see the teacher's mouth open and close, relying on reading the teacher's lips, a little bit of knowledge, the difficulty can be imagined.
When it is too difficult, Jiang Mengnan will also ask his parents: Why am I different from others?
Her parents always told her that inaudible is an established fact, and instead of complaining about others, it is better to do your best to overcome this.
In order to let Jiang Mengnan keep up with the progress, her parents took advantage of the evening, winter and summer vacations to take her to study in advance:
The night before, they had learned the lessons they were going to learn the next day first; during the winter and summer vacations, they had finished the lessons of the next semester...
Relying on this spirit of the stupid bird flying first, before the 4th grade, Jiang Mengnan always maintained the position of the top 3.
In 4th grade, she used a summer vacation to complete the 5th grade curriculum on her own, and after the beginning of the school year, she jumped to the 6th grade, catching up with the children of the same age.
After graduating from primary school, Jiang Mengnan was admitted to Chenzhou No. 6 Middle School with the second grade in the city.
The greatness of Jiang Mengnan's parents lies in the fact that they can advance and retreat.
In times of adversity, they do not give up, relying on the instinct of love to explore the possibility of children's lives.
When children need to grow, they can afford to take it, carry it clearly, and always use sober love to help and sharpen children.

She rewrote fate
To live and study in a key middle school more than 100 kilometers away from home was proposed by Jiang Mengnan.
Just 12 or 3 years old, she has written "stupid birds fly into the forest first" into the motto, she understands her flaws, feels that only by adapting to the outside world earlier than other children can she keep up with the pace of ordinary people.
In the 6 years of junior high school, Jiang Mengnan showed a stronger quality than his peers.
Leaving the house, no one told her to get up in the morning, she set the alarm clock of her mobile phone to vibrate before going to bed, and held the mobile phone in her hand all night when she went to bed.
The host asked her: When sleeping, it is easy to loosen your hands.
Jiang Mengnan said very firmly: I will not let go. I know this is very important and I have to do it, so I don't relax.
This state, which is also the state she was in middle and high school, because she knew that she was flawed, she worked harder and demanded herself more strictly.
We often say that God will open a window for you if He closes a door for you, provided that you have to grope for yourself and find the door.
With the tenacity that must be done, when the college entrance examination, Jiang Mengnan scored a high score of 573, more than a score of 2 points.
But she was not satisfied and insisted on re-reading. The next year, Jiang Mengnan scored 615 and was admitted to Jilin University.
In the university, she won the university scholarship for 3 consecutive years, the Dongrong Scholarship for 2 consecutive years, and the Bethune Medical Scholarship, the Self-Reliance College Pacesetter, and the Outstanding University Graduate.
Later, she was admitted to Jilin University as a graduate student, and in 2018, she was admitted as a doctoral student at Tsinghua University.
Rushing out of the barrier of fate, this resolute deaf girl, relying on the love of her parents and her own denial of fate, rewrote her fate step by step.
This process is really very touching.
The award speech that touched jiang Mengnan by the Chinese Organizing Committee was: Break through from the silence, you have a loud horn in your heart; in the new era, you have a firmer direction.
