Modern power electronics require as much system efficiency as possible, which also promotes the increasing power density of the device. However, once a short-circuit failure occurs, it poses a threat to high-value systems. To avoid this and provide reliable protection for the system, Infineon has further expanded its lineup of EiceDRIVER enhanced isolated gate drivers with the EiceDRIVER F3 (1ED332x) enhanced series of gate drivers. These gate drivers provide reliable and comprehensive protection against short-circuit faults, enabling traditional power switches, including IGBTs, as well as CoolSIC wide bandgap devices. These gate drivers are designed for applications such as industrial drives, solar systems, electric vehicle charging, energy storage systems, and commercial air conditioning.

EiceDRIVER 1ED F3
The EiceDRIVER F3 Enhanced Series gate drivers are available in a wide-body package of DSO 16 300 mil with a creepage distance of 8 mm. This single isolated gate driver features ultra-high common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) up to 300 kV/us and typical output currents up to 8.5 A. Channel-to-channel propagation delay matching with low discreteness helps minimize dead time, improve system efficiency, and reduce harmonic distortion. These gate drivers offer protection features such as short-circuit clamping, active shutdown, and active Miller clamping.
The EiceDRIVER F3 Enhanced Series gate drivers are suitable for a wide power range and can support an absolute maximum output voltage of 40 V. In addition, the high temperature resistance, fast switching applications, and use in harsh environments make the gate drivers ideal for driving traditional IGBTs, IGBT7, and silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs. And, thanks to its rated voltage of up to 2300 V, it can support power switches with blocking voltages in excess of 1200 V. The gate drivers are also UL 1577 and VDE 0884-11 (Reinforced Insulation), ensuring high reliability in applications and guaranteeing a long service life.
