Executive Vice Dean, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of the Institute of Reproduction and Development, Fudan University
He has been engaged in the research of the genetic mechanism of birth defects for a long time, taking the lead in discovering the low-frequency pathogenic point mutations of multiple core genes of the main birth defect neural tube malformations in the PCP pathway in mainland China, and elucidating that multiple major gene variations in the folic acid pathway lead to an increase in the incidence of congenital heart disease with birth defects in mainland China, providing important support for improving the prevention and control level of birth defects in mainland China. He has won the first prize of natural science of the Ministry of Education and the National May Day Labor Medal.

Long-term engaged in obstetrics and gynecology reproductive clinical and related scientific research work, through exploring the immunological mechanism of pregnancy establishment and maintenance, in the prevention and treatment of early pregnancy failure has created a new idea, established a set of immunological testing methods and evaluation strategies that reflect the state of maternal and fetal immune tolerance, for the immune etiology classification and targeted treatment of unexplained recurrent abortion, the success rate of fetal preservation has increased from the original 69% to more than 85%, improving maternal and infant health, benefiting tens of thousands of families. He has presided over 8 NSFC projects, key projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, published 70 high-level SCI papers by the first/corresponding author, applied for 4 invention patents (authorized 1), and the results have been highly evaluated by Nature, Science, cell series journals for many times, and the research results of the first completer have won the second prize of Chinese medical science and technology, the second prize of Shanghai Medical Science and Technology, the second prize of national maternal and child health science and technology, the Shanghai Excellent Invention Gold Award, the Meiji Life Science Award, etc.

Regarding the investigation of the etiology mechanism of polycystic ovary syndrome, Professor Lin's team won two national natural projects, which elucidated some molecular mechanisms of insulin resistance caused by high androgens, and took the lead in proposing the concept of "early diagnosis and early treatment" of polycystic ovary syndrome in adolescence. Innovative drug conversion method using combined oral contraceptives combined with insulin sensitizers to convert atypical endometrial hyperplasia into normal endometrium. On the basis of consolidating the overall nursing responsibility system, taking clinical needs as the guide and clinical scientific research as the support, innovating clinical nursing technology, developing nursing practice projects, and solving clinical problems. Focusing on the training of senior practical nurses, we have formed five characteristic sub-specialties of midwifery, breastfeeding, tumor nursing, maternal psychological nursing, and nutritional nursing.

Over the years, he has been committed to the scientific research and clinical application of birth defects, and has given birth to a number of healthy PGT babies of the first single gene genetic disease family at home and abroad, benefiting many patients with rare diseases, single gene diseases and chromosomal diseases. Led the team to invent a number of new technologies for single-cell genetic diagnosis, and carried out molecular genetic diagnosis business represented by PGT, non-invasive prenatal testing and prenatal genetic diagnosis, and took the lead in creating a large-scale reproductive genetic clinical service platform in China. Engaged in clinical, teaching and scientific research in reproductive medicine, he studied the developmental origin of chronic diseases, especially diabetes, from the early stage of life, revealed the transmission effect and epigenetic mechanism of maternal and paternal glucose metabolism abnormalities, and elucidated the regulatory mechanism of the biological clock gene on insulin-sensitive circadian rhythm, and was selected as the academic highlight of Fudan in 2021. As the Chinese project director of the WHO Healthy Life Trajectory Program, he conducted research on the mechanism related to embryonic diseases, revealed the impact of early life exposure on the health of offspring, and provided a scientific basis for reducing the occurrence of offspring diseases, and won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. In the past five years, he has published 30 SCI papers in PLOS Medicine, BMC Medicine, AIOG, BJOG, etc. as the first/corresponding author, of which 2 were selected as high-impact papers and 2020 high-value papers in the field of obstetrics and reproductive medicine in China. Participated in the compilation of the English adaptation of the textbook "Obstetrics and Gynecology" and the monograph "Practical Human Assisted Reproductive Technology".
