March 21, 2022 is the 11th "World Down Syndrome Day", this year's theme is "attach importance to Down's screening to give birth to healthy babies", aiming to improve the awareness and attention of the whole society on Down syndrome, guide women to take the initiative to accept Down's screening after pregnancy, do a good job in pregnancy health care, and scientifically conceive healthy new life, on March 21, Linquan County carried out theme publicity activities, and all medical units in the county hung publicity banners, distributed publicity leaflets, taught knowledge related to the prevention and treatment of birth defects, and carried out free clinics. Further enhance the public's awareness of the prevention and treatment of birth defects.
According to statistics, the event distributed more than 1270 copies of public health service projects such as premarital examination, pre-pregnancy eugenics, supplemental taking folic acid, pregnancy health care, and prevention and treatment of birth defects, and received more than 560 people for consultation, closely following the theme of "attaching importance to Down's screening and giving birth to healthy babies", focusing on key stages such as premarital, pre-pregnancy, and pregnancy, actively publicizing the policy of benefiting women and children's health, enhancing the public's awareness of birth defect prevention, attaching importance to prenatal screening and prenatal diagnosis, and guiding the masses to actively accept birth defect prevention and treatment services.
Down syndrome, also known as trisomy 21 syndrome, is a serious birth defect and is one of the most common chromosomal disorders. Patients with Down syndrome have severe and irreversible intellectual disabilities, cannot take care of themselves in life, and need to be cared for for for a long time, often referred to as "Down's Child" and "Tang Baby". At present, there is no effective treatment method, so it greatly affects the health of sick children and family happiness, and standardizing the prenatal screening and diagnosis can significantly reduce its occurrence, which is one of the fundamental, economic and effective measures to improve the quality of the birth population and the health level of women and children.
Down syndrome is an occasional disease, every couple has the possibility of having a Down child, it is recommended that every eligible pregnant woman should be informed of the choice of a medical institution at the appropriate gestational age for down syndrome prenatal screening (referred to as Down screening).
Test time: 15 to 20 weeks of pregnancy + 6 days. (It is recommended to carry A-ultrasound fasting examination within one week)
Linquan County's free Down's screening service targets: 1, both husband and wife or at least one of them is Linquan household registration; 2, the birth age of 35 years old in line with the prenatal screening medical indications for singleton pregnant women (excluding IVF).
