Wu Weishan, director of the National Art Museum of China and a famous sculptor, recently received a collection certificate from the Vienna World Museum, the original of which was handed over by the Austrian ambassador to China, Liken, and his sculpture "Painter Qi Baishi" was permanently placed and exhibited in the museum.
In 2021, in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Austria, Wu Weishan was invited to create a sculpture "Painter Qi Baishi" and donated it to the World Museum in Vienna. Founded in 1876, the Vienna World Museum is austria's largest anthropological museum dedicated to showcasing the world's cultural diversity and witnessing the changes in human society. "Painter Qi Baishi" is placed here, providing a good opportunity for Sino-Austrian artistic exchanges. For the National Art Museum of China, this is also a positive practice to continue to expand Sino-Austrian cultural exchanges and promote Chinese cultural dialogue in the world.
At the collection ceremony, Zheng Hao, deputy director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, said that under the circumstance that the epidemic has blocked normal cultural exchanges, the exchanges and cooperation between the National Art Museum of China and the Vienna World Museum have set an example for our international exchanges and laid a good foundation for the resumption of cooperation after the epidemic.
