Precious color images exposed Qi Baishi's painting process, and nearly 300 art classics shone through the National Art Museum of China

Speaking of the earliest "trench exhibition" of the National Art Museum of China, many viewers still remember the "Beauty in the New Era" special exhibition of the National Art Museum of China in the winter of 2017, when this exhibition attracted the audience to queue for more than 2 kilometers and became a sensational cultural event in Beijing. On March 11, the "upgraded version" of the special exhibition of the National Art Museum of China with the same theme came, in order to welcome the 20th victory of the Party, the "Beauty in the New Era - Special Exhibition of Fine Works of the National Art Museum of China (Phase II)" co-sponsored by the Central Radio and Television Corporation and the National Art Museum of China officially opened, and nearly 300 art classics and precious art documentaries shone at the National Art Museum of China.

A masterpiece classic

Masters of modern and contemporary art can be compared to "counting stars"

The exhibition is divided into two chapters: "Expressing the New Era with Beauty" and "Presenting beauty to the New Era", respectively, exhibiting the excellent works on production and construction, environmental protection, poverty alleviation, anti-epidemic, education, science and technology, sports and other contents newly created since the 18th National Congress, as well as the classic works of modern and modern masters such as Qi Baishi, Huang Binhong, Xu Beihong, Lin Fengmian, Liu Haisu, Pan Tianshou, Fu Baoshi, Li Keyan and so on.

As soon as they step into the central exhibition hall on the first floor, the audience will find themselves surrounded by works by famous Chinese artists of the 20th century: Qi Baishi's "Cherry", Xu Beihong's "Running Horse", Huang Binhong's "Xiaxia Mountain Residence", Fu Baoshi's "Pictures of the Jiangshan Mountains to be Detailed", Lin Fengmian's "Autumn"... These masterpieces interpret their artistic style and become widely circulated art classics. Liu Wenxi, the founder of the "Loess Painting School", famously wrote "Four Generations of Ancestors and Grandchildren" with group portraits of four generations showing the vicissitudes of time and the changes of the times. Wu Guanzhong's "Taihu Lake Goose Flock" records the noisy flocks of geese frolicking between the colors of the sky and the lake, and the green and light yellow blocks on the picture are scattered with white clusters and red dots, giving people an abstract formal beauty.

The exhibition also exhibits heavyweight works such as Wu Changshuo's 1919 "Twelve Openings of The Album of Calligraphy and Painting", Qi Baishi's "Eight Openings of the Grass Worm Album" in 1945, and Pan Tianshou's huge "Remembering the Flowers of Yandang Mountain" created in 1962. Among them, "Remembering the Flowers of Yandang Mountain" is inspired by the mountain flowers and wild grasses obtained by Pan Tianshou from the sketches of Yandang Mountain, turning ordinary small scenes into majestic and huge productions, producing a majestic and strange moving artistic style, which can be called a "divine work" with small views and big things.

Contemporary masterpiece

Anti-epidemic, Olympic and other theme works were brilliantly presented

In the middle of the first-floor rotunda, the "Most Beautiful Taihu Lake Water" created by contemporary painter Shang Yadong is exhibited. This is a large-scale oil painting with a length of 5 meters and a width of 2 meters, taking the treatment of cyanobacteria in Taihu Lake as the starting point, showing the scene of the daily water quality monitoring work of young scientific and technological personnel who are full of vitality. The painting not only shows the beautiful lake and mountain color of Taihu Lake, but also interprets the development concept of "green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains".

On the occasion of the Beijing Winter Paralympic Games, there are many Olympic-themed works in the exhibition, such as the Chinese painting "Peak Dancing Snow" created by Gao Yi and Huang Huasan, and Li Xuanfeng's sculpture "Beyond", which brings a strong sense of movement with the wonderful moments of ice and snow sports. Pang Maokun's watercolor painting "Heavenly Duty" and other works focus on medical workers on the frontline of the fight against the epidemic, reflecting their noble virtues of bravery, fearlessness and selfless dedication.

Wu Weishan, director of the National Art Museum of China, said that the works exhibited in the exhibition shine with ideas and wisdom, reflect the national character and the connotation of the times, which is not only a reflection of the time and the present, but also overflows with the spiritual charm of timelessness and advancement with the times with its transcendence. "We hope to vigorously carry forward the spirit of the new era through the exhibition, vividly tell the Chinese story to the world, and let the world better understand Chinese art and chinese spirit."

Picture and shadow blend

Precious color films restore Qi Baishi's painting process

The white-haired old man of Baishi, wearing a long shirt, sat in front of the case, dipped in pen and ink and began to write... In Hall 6, the colour documentary "Painter Qi Baishi", which was filmed in the 1950s, is broadcast. The documentary meticulously shows the process of Qi Baishi painting shrimp in his nineties, and his flexible brushstrokes and meticulous expressions have touched the audience through more than half a century.

Xue Jijun, a member of the editorial board of the Central Radio and Television Corporation, introduced that this high-quality special exhibition has transferred many precious archived images from the Central News Documentary Film Studio to record the creative experience of the older generation of art masters, making the exhibition more historically deep and thick, which can be called an innovative integration of video art and art exhibition. Documentaries show Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Pan Tianshou and other modern masters thinking about beauty, pursuing beauty, and solidifying the beauty of Yoshimitsu Katayu, allowing the audience to "meet" with the master and feel the living life force.

It is reported that during the epidemic prevention and control period, the National Art Museum of China implemented a real-name reservation system, staggered peaks, and restricted visits, with a daily opening limit of 1,800 reservation tickets. The exhibition will run until March 30.
