On February 24, the Vienna World Museum presented a sculpture collection certificate to Wu Weishan, director of the National Art Museum of China, and entrusted the Austrian Ambassador to China Liken to hand over the original certificate in Beijing to express its attention and gratitude for the permanent display of Chinese artists' works in Austria.
In 2021, in order to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Austria, in order to further deepen people-to-people exchanges and dialogue between the two countries and promote people-to-people ties, Wu Weishan donated the sculpture "Painter Qi Baishi" to the Vienna World Museum under the active contact and promotion of the Austrian-Chinese Friendship Association.
"This work was created in 2012 for Qi Baishi's former residence, and when former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger came to Beijing, he also touched the hand of the sculpture Qi Baishi." Wu Weishan introduced that the old man of Baishi in the work holds a cane and smiles, as if he is greeting friends from all over the world at the doorstep of his home. This fully reflects the hospitality of Chinese, and the gentleness of Chinese can also be felt from his expression. This time he went to Austria to communicate with art from all over the world at the World Museum in Vienna, and also to tell the story of China in a silent voice and share the beauty of China with the world. ”
Qi Baishi is not only a master of chinese painting, but also one of the most internationally renowned Chinese artists. A series of "Qi Baishi" images created by Wu Weishan have been exhibited or "settled" in South Korea, Italy and other places, and have become an important artistic business card of the World of Chinese Cultural Dialogue.
