Huang Ji (1925-1997), formerly known as Liang Huang Ji ,, was a native of Li County, Hebei Province, and later moved to Xi'an, Shaanxi. Due to the death of his father, he entered the society before finishing junior high school. In the spring of 1949, he joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army. Because his father was in his forties to get this son, he took the name "Old Fool" for peace. "Huang Ji" is a pen name he gave himself in junior high school, and has been using this name ever since. He used the names Liang Yezi and Miao Di. Later, he inscribed the titles Liang Peng and Liang Quan in his works.
He studied under the famous painter Zhao Wangyun in Shaanxi, and later went to Xinjiang, Qinghai, Tibet and other ethnic minority areas to live in depth many times, accumulated a large number of materials, and could absorb the strengths of ancient painters, for his own use, and finally made outstanding achievements in the creation of Chinese painting, becoming a famous contemporary Chinese painter. In his later years, he also prepared to establish the China Yanhuang Art Museum, and made great efforts to collect and display Chinese art. Before his death, he was the vice president of the Chinese Painting Research Institute, the executive director of the China Artists Association, and a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
In addition to his artistic creation, he likes to collect ancient calligraphy and paintings, and in 1972, he donated a precious Yuan Dynasty painting and a flower and bird painting in the early Ming Dynasty to the Palace Museum.
