Xu Jingxi, a literary critic, graduated from the Department of Chinese of East China Normal University and is a retired professor of the College of Literature of Nantong University. In 1941, he was born in Fengcheng Town, a scholarly mendi. His father, Xu Zongkai, set foot on the teaching altar in 1919, and successively founded and served as the principal of many primary schools, middle schools and normal schools. At the age of 19, he published an article in the "Liberation Daily" entitled "On the Depiction of Love in Shaping the Hero's Image", which triggered a controversy in the literary and art circles in Shanghai at that time. In September 1964, Xu Jingxi, who had just graduated from college, was assigned to Wuhan as a college teacher, and the comments and essays he wrote in his spare time were often reported in Wuhan, Guangzhou and other places.
On November 10, 1965, Yao Wenyuan published an article entitled "Commenting on the Newly Edited Historical Dramas", a historical drama written by the famous historian Wu Han that was severely criticized. "In the article, it is said incisively that if Hai Rui wants to retire from the fields, he wants to retire from the fields of the people's commune, and to write that to rehabilitate the unjust prison is to release the cattle, ghosts, and snake gods."
