In the spring, we will take the grassroots | return to the right track and set sail from the "heart"

"Please start the inspection at the Siwei Street Judicial Office."

"Report to the Command Center, the community corrections subjects of the Siwei Street Justice Center should go to ..."

In the early morning of January 25, a reporter from The Rule of Law Daily walked into the Community Corrections Center in Jiang'an District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, coinciding with a routine remote video inspection.

It was also the day when psychological counselors Li Wei and Yang Qiao conducted psychological counseling for social corrections subjects, and the object of psychological counseling was Wang Li (pseudonym).

Wang Li, a 30-year-old former employee of a financial company, was sentenced to a suspended sentence for illegally absorbing deposits from the public.

"After an hour of psychological counseling, I found that his psychological state was relatively stable, his family was very supportive, and the risk of re-offending was relatively low." Li Wei said.

Sometimes it's not that simple. Last year, Yang Qiao met a "high-risk" woman.

Because of the discord between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, the woman was forced to divorce her husband, but both sides still loved each other deeply and always wanted to remarry. The woman went down the path of crime to earn medical bills for her ex-husband, who had cancer, but still failed to save his life.

"When I first met her, she was in a particularly bad state, disobedient to management, with a strong sense of guilt, generalized thinking, and depressed and collapsed emotions." Yang Qiao recalled.

"For social corrections subjects with a high risk of re-offending, we will ask psychological counselors to put forward professional plans and suggestions for case corrections, and regularly carry out one-on-one psychological corrections." Li Shuyi said.

After 5 times of psychological correction, the woman's mood has gradually stabilized, the sense of self-guilt has decreased, and the behavior has become positive.

In recent years, the Jiang'an District Social Corrections Bureau has integrated psychological corrections into the whole process of community corrections, and third-party professional institutions have assisted in psychological counseling, psychological education and psychological crisis intervention, so that the life back on track can set sail from the "heart".

"Conducting a psychological 'physical examination' is the first step in carrying out psychological correction." Li Shuyi, a cadre police officer of the Jiang'an District Social Corrections Bureau, said.

On the day that the social corrections subjects enter the corrections, the Jiang'an District Social Corrections Center will use the risk assessment and psychological correction system to conduct a multi-dimensional re-crime risk psychological assessment of the re-offending objects, including the basic information of the corrections, the psychological and personality assessment of the corrections, and the self-assessment of the risk of re-offending in corrections.

"There are 4 sets of test questions in this system for self-evaluation by social corrections subjects." Li Wei said that the psychological assessment results are combined with pretrial investigation information to locate community corrections subjects with a high risk of re-offending, and accurate supervision and management and education and support measures are formulated for individual cases.

"What if some people don't answer the questions seriously?"

"For those who are perfunctory during the psychological assessment, have a disguised nature, and have obvious cognitive and emotional and behavioral problems in the conclusions of the psychological assessment, we will carry out one-on-one psychological counseling and high-risk investigation." Li Wei said.

This year is yang qiao's 9th year of psychological counseling.

"In 2019, when I first started doing psychological counseling for social corrections subjects, I thought I was a savior. But after in-depth contact, I found that they were no different from ordinary people, but they had lost their way and had a blurred sense of boundaries. Yang Qiao said.

In recent years, Jiang'an District has organized a total of 12,000 psychological consultations, 775 multidimensional re-crime risk assessments, 528 group psychological counseling for community corrections subjects, 230 one-on-one psychological counseling, and 10 psychological lectures.

"Through counseling, approach them, listen to them, and let them try to open up to themselves." In fact, social corrections objects are more expected to be treated equally. Yang Qiao said.

Journalist's Note

Community corrections subjects are a special group.

In order to truly achieve the goal of "controlling people and correcting them well", psychological problems cannot be ignored.

In recent years, Jiang'an District of Wuhan Has made many useful explorations in the psychological correction of social corrections subjects. While the reporter is happy, he hopes that more social forces will participate in creating a benign pattern of service management for special groups of diversified and co-governance. As Yang Qiao said, the social correction object is actually the same as us, but once walked the wrong way.
