[The threat of Afghan drugs flowing into Russia through Central Asia is real]

Alexander Stelnik, director of the THIRD CIS bureau of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said the threat of drugs flowing from Afghanistan into Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and then into Russia was real and that CSOS were taking precautions.

Stelnick said: "This threat is real. CSL will take measures to ease tensions in the border areas of Tajikistan and Afghanistan and further reform them. Joint exercises at the Joint Base of the CISOA forces in Kyrgyzstan are being used to strengthen the strike force of the Russian military base 201st in Tajikistan. Russia is helping the allied powers by supplying special equipment. ”

Russia cooperates with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the CIS platform in counter-narcotics, "first and foremost at the meeting of the heads of intelligence agencies of the CIS member states".

Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Shoigu said instability in Afghanistan increased the risk of terrorists infiltrating CSA member states and rampant drug trafficking.
