Watching the Nissan Frontier concept car unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show, the idea of modification is not there ~ ~

Today, Nissan unveiled three re-engineered Frontier concept pickup trucks at the 2022 Chicago Auto Show.

They are Project Hardbody, Project 72X, and Project Adventure, all based on the Frontier Crew Cab.

· Project Hardbody

The red Project Hardbody is Nissan's nod to the D21 "Hardbody" pickup truck of the eighties.

The D21 "Hardbody" is popular in road and off-road racing, especially in Southern California.

Project Hardbody is based on Frontier's SV-class with a 3.0-inch lift kit, adjustable upper control arm, and vintage wheels wrapped around 33-inch tires.

· Project 72X

This is a modernization of the popular Datsun 720 pickup, first introduced in 1979.

The Datsun 720 was the first Nissan vehicle to be assembled at a new Nissan plant in Smyrna, Tennessee, in the United States (1983).

Project 72X is based on Frontier's S-Class and features a 2.5-inch lift kit, adjustable front and upper suspension arms, booms and off-road tires.

Both the Project Hardbod and the Project 72X concept were inspired by classic pickup models that helped Japanese brands gain a foothold in the North American market in the 1970s and 1980s.

· Project Adventure

This is the more modern of the three, with an interior based on the 2022 Frontier PRO-4X, and the main performance is aimed at land enthusiasts. That's why it comes with a 5.0-inch lift kit, custom wheels with 34-inch mud tires, a bed frame, and a roof-mounted tent and storage system.

The exterior features gray exterior paint and vintage-inspired custom side graphics.

The car is also equipped with a custom snorkel made of carbon fiber.

None of these three concept models is likely to be mass-produced as a special edition or limited trim grade for the new Frontier. But given that most modifications can be done after sales, we can use these concept cars as inspiration for the modification of our own vehicles.
