Putin said the talks with French President Emmanuel Macron were informative and useful. Their talks lasted more than 5 hours.
Putin said that the issue of security was discussed during the talks. He knew that Macron had come to Russia primarily to discuss the maintenance of European and global security, and that Russia and France had special responsibilities on the issue as permanent members of the UN Security Council.
Putin said the two sides exchanged views on the responses of the United States and NATO to Russia's security initiative. Putin pointed out that Moscow has not proposed any impossible provisions that cannot be implemented.
Putin stressed that the Presidents of Russia and France have also discussed NATO strategy, which lists Russia as an enemy, but the West is still trying to convince Russia that NATO is purely a defensive alliance, which is not the case. He reiterated that Russia is firmly opposed to NATO's eastward expansion because it is a threat.
Putin pointed out that Ukraine refuses to abide by the Minsk Treaty. In his view, Kiev has taken the line of abrogating the Minsk agreement.
Putin thanked Macron for his efforts to resolve the Relationship between Russia and NATO and the compromise between the two sides.
