Overseas media recently revealed that a special committee is planned to be set up at home to work with well-known foreign chip manufacturers such as Intel and AMD. With this new initiative, the country aims to establish a huge chip supply chain to circumvent U.S. sanctions imposed on the mainland.

The group is known as the "Cross-Border Semiconductor Working Committee." If the information from overseas media is accurate, this committee may be launched in the first half of this year. The Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology supervise this special committee.

It is reported that the goal of the committee is to strengthen the relationship between Chinese and foreign companies. The ultimate goal is to build China's own chip supply chain by securing semiconductor technology in Japan, Europe and the United States. In addition, the committee hopes to attract overseas companies to establish development and manufacturing bases in China, and pledges financial and policy support from the government.

Overseas media said a document obtained showed that China's current list of cooperation includes companies such as Intel, AMD and Infineon. In addition, Dutch industrial groups, including ASML, are also on the list. Judging from the sources, some overseas companies have expressed their desire to join the committee of domestic initiatives, after all, the Chinese market is relatively large.

Of course, whether this committee can attract so many overseas companies to join, but also depends on how overseas companies consider the relevant restrictions on the United States, and for overseas companies, whether their intellectual property rights can be effectively protected is also a problem, many overseas companies are reluctant to introduce technology into the country, mainly in this regard.

However, if this news is accurate, it also shows that the current development of the domestic semiconductor and chip industry chain is indeed difficult to achieve self-sufficiency, especially the high-end chip part, or rely on overseas companies and technologies, in general, the current domestic chip industry or two legs to walk, on the one hand, self-developed chips do have to work harder, on the other hand, to introduce overseas advanced technology. Relying on self-research and development alone may not be able to achieve the goals envisaged in China for a long time...
