A few days ago, in an isolation ward in the airport district of the First People's Hospital of Zhengzhou City, a designated hospital for the treatment of new crown pneumonia in Henan Province, a 41-year-old pregnant mother had just undergone a cesarean section. The "Big White" who was guarding her side saw her awaken from the anesthesia and immediately informed her of the baby's situation. Since being diagnosed with COVID-19 on January 9 and being transported to a designated hospital, trepidation has been hanging over the pregnant mother. Now, finally relieved, she couldn't help but burst into tears.
"I suddenly received a notice on the night of January 9 and entered the isolation ward overnight in a team of a midwife and a nurse." Wang Qiuming, an obstetrician at Henan Provincial People's Hospital, recalled.
The first thing Wang Qiuming did after arriving at the ward was to urgently allocate an electronic fetal heartpiece to give the pregnant mother a comprehensive examination. The test results showed that thrombocytopenia, gestational diabetes, coupled with advanced age, new crown pneumonia... A series of difficult problems lie ahead of doctors.
At present, the Henan Provincial People's Hospital undertakes the medical treatment of designated hospitals. After learning of the situation, Henan Provincial People's Hospital set up a special working group to organize multidisciplinary consultations, formulate surgical plans, conduct practical exercises, fully consider the high-risk factors of pregnant women, and strengthen hospital guidance to ensure the safety of medical staff.
On January 10, Henan Provincial People's Hospital deployed a number of obstetric experts, experienced midwives and nurses to the designated hospital. Subsequently, more than a dozen experts conducted three online consultations, and after comprehensive evaluation, the most appropriate caesarean section plan was finally determined.
At about 17:00 on January 15, obstetrics, pediatrics, anesthesiologists and operating room nurses, midwives and neonatal nurses were fully armed in the negative pressure operating room of the designated hospital for the treatment of new crown pneumonia in Henan Province, waiting to meet the challenge.

Bulging protective suits, fogging goggles, and three layers of gloves didn't stop the surgical team from being professional and efficient. With a wealth of surgical experience and surgical operations that have formed muscle memory, just 3 minutes after the operation officially began, a baby boy was born smoothly.

To avoid cross-infection, the baby is quickly transferred to a specific room and cared for by a neonatal team health care worker.
At 19:25, the operation was successfully completed. At this time, under the heavy protective clothing, the doctor's surgical gown was already soaked with sweat.
At present, the situation of the mother is normal and she has been sent back to the isolation ward for further treatment.
