After an active exchange, Schumpeter said he was willing to be interviewed to share his personal feelings from illness to recovery.

Mr. Schumpeter, 40 years old, has lived in the Philippines for more than 4 years, from the beginning of the sea to the Philippines to learn English, to now stay to live and work, has long been accustomed to the local natural climate and social environment, in recent years, it has been forced to gradually adapt to the Philippines' new crown epidemic and quite distinctive epidemic prevention measures.
"According to the severity of the epidemic, the Philippines will carry out five-level management", in the interview, Schumpeter introduced to us the local epidemic control policy in the Philippines, "during the control period, the strictest time is five, the most relaxed time is the first level, and at present, this side is in a first-level state, and the control should be over soon." In the first level of management, the flow of people between different areas is basically not restricted, everyone can go to the mall normally to consume, but when it reaches the second level of management, some amusement parks may be closed, and the normal operation of the mall will also require the staff to be fully vaccinated. When management is upgraded to level three, some places or activities that are considered to be at high risk of virus transmission will be stopped, and the scope of everyone's activities will be further reduced. The higher the level of prevention and control, the stricter it will be."

In the context of the epidemic, like all people living in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, Schumpeter will adjust his life according to the levels of control issued by the government at different times. Around the beginning of the year, Manila was in "three-level control" and Schumpeter had been living alone at home. Perhaps the virus attached to the takeaway and package could not be sanitize in time, schumpeter, who has always had good living habits, good health, and no underlying diseases, was infected with the new crown - he successively developed symptoms of fever, loss of smell and taste and sore throat.
"I didn't know if I was infected with Delta or Omikeron, I was in the overlap of these two viruses, I didn't go out during that time, and the only things I had contact with were takeaway and courier." When we asked about Schumpeter's mood after diagnosis, he said: "Because many friends around me have had, even secondary infections, so my mood has not been particularly large, I think the ability to spread this disease is indeed too strong, and my infection is also a very normal thing."
After realizing that he was infected with the new crown, Schumpeter immediately informed his family, friends and colleagues as soon as possible, "because I will not be able to reply to emails and process messages in time, I need to inform them in advance." Subsequently, he began the "self-healing process" of resting at home.

Through communication, we learned that until the symptoms of the new crown became prominent until recovery, Schumpeter did not use any drugs throughout the whole process, and most of what he did every day was bed rest and a lot of drinking water. Because of his medical background, Schumpeter has been able to maintain his own good immunity since childhood, and he is accustomed to relying on immunity to fight various diseases, rarely using antibiotics. At the same time, in his daily life, he pays great attention to exercise, and has many years of exercise and fitness habits. This time, he also believes that relying on autoimmunity, there will be no problem in defeating the new crown. "I didn't even get a COVID-19 vaccine, not a single shot." Influenced by his friends, Schumpeter has never been vaccinated, preferring to believe in his body's strong resilience and repair ability.

However, Schumpeter also said that he does not vaccinate, but also because there is no elderly around him, there is no need to worry about the risk of infection to the elderly if he is infected, and he also suggested: "If there are elderly people and children in the family, you still need to get the new crown vaccine in time, the vaccine has a very obvious effect on delaying the development of the disease and reducing the rate of severe illness." ”
According to Schumpeter himself, the development process of the new crown embodied in him can probably be divided into the following stages.
The first is fever, which gradually returns to normal after nearly 24 hours, with the body sweating and drinking a lot of water. Schumpeter then found that he seemed to have lost his sense of taste and smell, but fortunately, after 3 days, these symptoms were alleviated, which made him feel relieved. At the same time, he had a sore throat and a slight cough, but he did not panic, and what he had been doing was to ensure adequate rest and drink water cup by cup. About two weeks later, sore throat and cough disappeared from Schumpeter's body, and he made a successful recovery.

Looking back on the period from diagnosis to recovery, when we asked if there was anything that bothered him, Schumpeter told us that it was also the days when he lost his sense of smell and taste. "During the epidemic, food is not easy to buy, what I have at home and can eat is muffin (a kind of snack), but the food has been placed in the refrigerator for too long, it has lost its own soft taste, coupled with the change of my own taste and smell, a variety of factors superimposed, let me somewhat worry that this situation does not know how long to continue."

By now, it has been several months since Schumpeter's full recovery, and when we asked him if he was still uncomfortable, he said: "As far as I am concerned, I have no discomfort at all, my sense of smell and taste are no different from before I got sick, and as far as I know, most of my friends who have recovered around me have also said that there are basically no follow-up abnormal symptoms." However, because we are only making a simple judgment from the senses, what are the sequelae of the new crown, we need more scientific research to explain, but I feel good now. ”
At the end of the interview, when we talked to Schumpeter about how to view the epidemic, he said: "I am a faction that supports the coexistence of humans and viruses, whether it is the Spanish flu more than 100 years ago, or the new crown epidemic on a global scale today, it can actually be regarded as a training for human immunity in nature." Counting from the early Homo sapiens in human evolution, there have been 250,000-400,000 years of time, even if the frequency of infection of large diseases is calculated on a century's time scale, there have been tens of thousands of times, and none of them have been able to defeat the progress of human beings, and I think this time will not. In the future, perhaps every hundred years, we will experience the challenge of such a public health event. ”
Talking about the future, Schumpeter also told us about his "anti-aging plan", he said to us with a smile: "This illness is more like an important experience and experience in my life, and it makes me feel that it is really important to have a good autoimmune ability, and intervene in the change of immunity in the aging process in time, which is the next step I want to do." ”
