On January 7, the Henan Provincial Department of Education and the Health Commission jointly released the list of the second batch of clinical education bases in 2021, and the Henan Provincial People's Hospital was officially recognized as the affiliated hospital of Zhengzhou University, and the people's hospital of Zhengzhou University was added.
At this point, the "attribution" issue of Henan Provincial People's Hospital has officially settled.
After more than 10 years of entanglement, the identity was finally determined
It is understood that as early as 2010, the People's Hospital of Henan Province signed a cooperation agreement with Zhengzhou University to add the "People's Hospital of Zhengzhou University" and become its non-directly affiliated hospital, so as to give full play to the advantages of education and medical resources of both sides and achieve complementary advantages.
But what is puzzling is that the sign was withdrawn after only one day of hanging, and the original unveiling ceremony was cancelled for some reason. Since then, for a long time, the two sides have been in a tepid state with few waves.
Until 2017, after Zhengzhou University became one of the country's first-class universities, the Henan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government issued relevant opinions to support the construction of "double first-class", and clearly proposed to support Zhengzhou University and Henan Provincial People's Hospital to further deepen cooperation, which also laid the foundation for the next development of both sides.
In July 2019, with the unveiling ceremony of the People's Hospital of Zhengzhou University held in the Provincial Hospital, the People's Hospital of Henan Province also changed from a non-directly subordinate hospital to a direct hospital of Zhengzhou University after a gap of 9 years, and the original affiliation remained unchanged. At the same time, this also marks that the clinical, teaching and research development of Henan Provincial People's Hospital will step onto a new level under the guidance of Zhengzhou University, so as to continuously enhance the comprehensive strength and core competitiveness of the hospital.
In November 2021, according to Zhengzhou University, in the 2020 China Hospital Science and Technology Quantity (STEM) Ranking released by the Institute of Medical Information of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, two affiliated hospitals of Zhengzhou University were shortlisted in the top 100, one of which was the Henan Provincial People's Hospital, which ranked 97th in the comprehensive ranking, an increase of 3 places over 2019, while the other was zhengda first affiliated hospital, known as the "world's largest hospital", ranking 21st, moving forward two places.
Even so, in the list of the first batch of affiliated hospitals in 2021 released by the Henan Provincial Department of Education and the Health Commission on November 23, 2021, 26 affiliated hospitals were involved, but there was no trace of the Henan Provincial People's Hospital. The list announced this time, Henan Provincial People's Hospital has become an official document affiliated to Zhengzhou University Hospital.
According to public information, Henan Provincial People's Hospital was developed from the Kaifeng "Gospel Hospital" founded in 1904, renamed Henan Provincial People's Hospital in 1950, relocated to Zhengzhou with the provincial government in 1955, and after hundreds of years, it has now developed into a large-scale tertiary general hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care, rehabilitation and first aid, with 3900 open beds and 249 ICU beds in the headquarters, with 12 national clinical key specialties.
The current Zhengzhou University is formed by the merger of the former Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou University of Technology and Henan Medical University, which is a key construction university, a first-class university construction university and a "ministry-province joint construction" university for the national "211 Project".
"Interlude" with Henan University
In fact, even if it is a tertiary hospital, if there is no good university affiliation, compared with the affiliated hospital, it will be dwarfed in terms of discipline construction and talent training, not to mention that there is a "medical aircraft carrier" like ZhengDa First Affiliated Hospital around the Henan Provincial People's Hospital.
In this case, cooperation with universities and becoming a university affiliated hospital may become the only way for Henan Provincial People's Hospital. In addition to Zhengzhou University, Henan Provincial People's Hospital also has a relationship with Henan University that is constantly cut and chaotic. It is reported that Henan University, founded in 1912, is a century-old famous university, and is now a national "double first-class" construction university, and its medical disciplines also have a history of one hundred years, cultivating medical talents represented by Zhu Deming, Zhang Xiaofang and Hu Peilan.
After many years of announcing the listing of the Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, in October 2016, henan provincial people's hospital reached a cooperation with henan university to jointly build henan university medical school and listed henan university people's hospital. At that time, Gu Jianqin, who was then the president of the Provincial Medical Hospital, also served as the first dean of the Medical College of Henan University.
Since then, Henan Provincial People's Hospital has also been listed in 2018 as Henan University School of Medicine and Henan University Clinical Medical College. According to relevant reports, the two sides did not interrupt or reduce cooperation because the provincial doctor became a direct hospital of Zhengzhou University in 2019, and continued to carry out in-depth cooperation around the construction of medical disciplines and the declaration of doctoral programs in Henan University.
However, whether it is discipline construction, talent training, or the application of scientific research projects, Henan University is difficult to compete with Zhengzhou University, and henan provincial people's hospital is also difficult to get a lot of support from it. Coupled with policy and regional factors, one in Zhengzhou, one in Kaifeng, belongs to the "long-distance relationship", comprehensive consideration, Henan University directly under the provincial doctors are not optimistic about the industry.
After the official identification, some insiders said that the informal relationship between Henan Provincial People's Hospital and Henan University may also end, and the lineup of zhengzhou university series affiliated hospitals has been luxurious for a few points.
