It is reported that Zhengzhou Aier Eye Hospital was established in 2016, as a second-level eye hospital with nearly 100 beds and a total investment of nearly 90 million yuan, the business covers refractive, cataract, fundus disease, glaucoma and other ophthalmic sub-specialties, and Henan University, founded in 1912, is a century-old famous school, now a national "double first-class" construction university, its medical disciplines also have a century-old history, cultivating medical talents represented by Zhu Deming, Zhang Xiaofang and Hu Peilan.
It is reported that in the future, the two sides will give full play to their respective resource advantages and institutional advantages, gradually carry out in-depth cooperation in medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, talent training, achievement transformation and other aspects, accelerate the implementation of projects that promote the integration of medicine and multidisciplinary development, further promote the construction of "famous schools + famous enterprises", and create a new model of industry-education integration.

In 2019, Wuhan University and Wuhan Aier Eye Hospital signed an agreement on cooperation in jointly building the Aier Eye Research Institute of Wuhan University and the Aier Clinical College of Ophthalmology of Wuhan University, and authorized Wuhan Aier Eye Hospital to hang three hospital plates such as "Aier Eye Hospital Affiliated to Wuhan University", "Aier Clinical College of Ophthalmology of Wuhan University", and "Aier Eye Research Institute of Wuhan University". It is understood that the Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Wuhan University is a large-scale tertiary professional eye hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, myopia prevention and control, and blindness prevention and treatment.
In 2020, Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Jinan University, Shenzhen Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Jinan University, and Dongguan Aier Eye Hospital were unveiled, and Hefei Aier Eye Hospital was officially listed in Shushan Branch of Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Anhui Medical University, and the two sides wanted to build a domestic first-class and internationally renowned ophthalmic medicine industry-university-research platform and a central regional ophthalmology medical center through strong alliance.
In May 2021, Aier Ophthalmology signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tianjin University, and a month later, Tianjin University Aier Eye Hospital was unveiled, thus becoming the seventh affiliated hospital of Tianjin University.

As a well-known ophthalmic chain institution in China, Aier Ophthalmology has determined the development idea of "hierarchical chain" since its inception in 2003, thus embarking on the road of expansion and development, and after the listing of the ChiNext board in 2009, it also accelerated the national layout.
It is understood that before 2014, Aier Ophthalmology is mainly based on new hospitals, in the 4 years of listing, an average of nearly 8 new hospitals have been added every year, and since then, in order to support its performance growth, Aier Ophthalmology has found a more effective expansion model, that is, the introduction of industrial merger and acquisition funds on the basis of new hospitals, so as to set up or acquire ophthalmic hospitals outside the body, and brand authorization.
It is reported that the hospital of "in vitro incubation" will be included in the body in the form of mergers and acquisitions after the overall operating conditions are stable, which not only meets the needs of the overall expansion of listed companies, but also avoids the unsatisfactory performance of the initial stage of new business.
Taking 2021 as an example, the data disclosed by Aier Ophthalmology shows that in 2021, Aier Ophthalmology has acquired 29 hospitals, of which in December alone it plans to acquire part of the equity of 14 hospitals such as Yiwu Aier and Yuanjiang Aier for 501 million yuan, further deepening its construction of a "hierarchical chain" system across the country.
After combing and rough calculations of "Medical Circles", it was found that the above 14 hospitals were opened between 2015 and 2019, and from January to October 2021, the cumulative operating income was about 286 million yuan, the net profit was 19.2377 million yuan, and nearly two-thirds of the hospitals achieved profitability, and these hospitals were mainly distributed in the third-tier cities and below in Zhejiang, Hunan, Liaoning and other provinces.
In this regard, Anxin Securities published a research report that after years of incubation and cultivation, most eye hospitals have entered a mature stage, and gradually and orderly incorporation into the listed company system will become the norm.
"Seeing the Medical Community" noted that Aier Ophthalmology is not only accelerating the acquisition of its own incubated hospitals, but also laying out a chain of regional eye hospitals.
According to the first financial report, since 2017, the pace of expansion of Aier Ophthalmology has accelerated, and by the beginning of 2021, its acquisition and new hospital outlets have reached 138, plus the new outpatient departments of subsidiaries, accumulating more than 160, with an average annual increase of more than 40.
According to the company's official website, Aier Ophthalmology currently has as many as 720 eye hospitals worldwide, of which 611 are Chinese mainland alone. At the same time, Aier Ophthalmology has also become an ophthalmic chain medical group with 3 listed companies in Chinese mainland, Europe and Southeast Asia through the acquisition of foreign ophthalmic chain institutions.
What about the accelerated expansion of Aier Ophthalmology? It is understood that from 2014 to 2020, in the past 7 years, the net profit of Aier Ophthalmology has increased from 309 million yuan to 1.724 billion yuan, with a compound growth rate of 33.18%. Since its listing, its revenue has crossed the threshold of 10 billion yuan from less than 500 million yuan, and its market value has soared from less than 4 billion yuan to more than 300 billion yuan at the beginning of the year.
Compared with the relatively saturated ophthalmology market in first-tier cities, Aier Ophthalmology is more inclined to sink in third- and fourth-tier cities with large market space and occupy the market first. In April last year, Aier Ophthalmology issued an announcement that 26 of the 30 hospitals that will be acquired are hospitals under the merger and acquisition fund set up by Aier Ophthalmology, with a transaction amount of 1.87 billion yuan.
