This dance in the Kunming area of the pilot free trade zone won the gold medal of Yunnan Province!

Recently, the results of the 12th National Folk Song and Dance Exhibition and Performance in Yunnan Province were released, and the innovative dance "Flat Drum Troupe Affection" in the Kunming Area of the China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone (Kunming Economic Development Zone) won the gold award.

The Yi Samui dance "Flat Drum Tuan Tuan Yi Yi Long" is adapted from the Kunming minor key "Guess the Tune". "Guessing" originates from the popular local folk song, the questioning party opens through a cordial call, followed by a series of comparative sentences to ask questions, and the answering party answers with materials full of folk life. The two sides of the song asked skillfully and answered well, full of life and humor.

All along, the District Social Affairs Bureau and the District Cultural Center have been committed to excavating and refining music, dance, rhythm, etc. with the characteristics of the Yi samui, sorting out and creating songs and dances that embody the local people's life, folk customs, and the characteristics of the Yi samui national culture, and strive to create and adapt a number of excellent literary and artistic programs that the people love, appreciate the elegant customs, and facilitate the masses to sing.

Sponsored by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Yunnan Province and the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission of Yunnan Province, the 12th Ethnic Folk Song and Dance Exhibition and Performance Activity of Yunnan Province was held in the form of "online exhibition and performance" from November to December 2021, with 86 works from all prefectures (cities) in the province participating in the exhibition. After the evaluation of the Award Committee, the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Provincial Ethnic and Religious Commission reviewed, a total of 5 inheritance awards, 10 gold awards, 12 silver awards, 18 bronze awards, and 36 excellence awards were awarded.

The Yunnan Provincial Ethnic Folk Song and Dance Exhibition and Performance is a high-standard, large-scale and widely influential provincial intangible cultural heritage dissemination and display event jointly organized by the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Provincial Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission. Held every two years, it has been successfully held for 12 sessions, becoming an important brand of Yunnan Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition. The national folk song and dance music exhibition has formed nearly 600 outstanding works, cultivated and trained a large number of national artistic talents, and become a "golden signboard" representing the outstanding culture and art of the Yunnan nation.

The exhibition and performance activities are not only a stage event for the essence of folk song and dance programs of all ethnic groups in Yunnan Province, but also a review platform and a powerful hand for practicing the "Law of the People's Republic of China on Intangible Cultural Heritage" and "Regulations on the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Yunnan Province", and implementing the spirit of the "Opinions on Further Strengthening the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage" issued by the General Office of the Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council.
