On April 22, the launch of the new book "Seeing China - The Homeland of Elephants" was held in Kunming. Starting from the travel of the "short-nosed family" of wild Asian elephants in Yunnan in 2021, the book fully demonstrates Yunnan's achievements in biodiversity conservation with vivid stories and detailed scientific knowledge, and creates a good atmosphere for the upcoming phase II meeting of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) in Kunming.
"Seeing China - The Homeland of Elephants" is planned and guided by the Information Office of the People's Government of Yunnan Province and the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Yunnan Province, and is jointly edited and published by Yunnan Daily Newspaper Group Yunnan Network, Yunnan Provincial Education Foundation, yunnan provincial forest fire brigade, and published by Yunnan Education Publishing House.
In March 2020, the "Short-nosed Family" of wild Asian elephants in Yunnan set off from the Mengyangzi Conservation Area of Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve and entered Pu'er City in July. On April 16, 2021, the elephant herd entered Yuanjiang County of Yuxi City from Mojiang County, Pu'er City, leaving their traditional habitat and traveling north, causing global concern. The story of the wild Asian elephant herd in Yunnan returning from the north to the south is a direct embodiment of our respect for nature, conforming to nature, protecting nature, and harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
"Seeing China - The Homeland of Elephants" is divided into four chapters, "Taiping Elephant", "Vientiane Renewal", "Holding the Elephant, The World Is Going", and "The Avenue to Jane The Invisible Elephant", with a total of 22 sections, including 87 exquisite elephant photos.
