【How to let children understand the sense of orientation】
If children want to participate in the fun orientation of young children, they first need to understand the map. To understand the map, you must first have a sense of orientation.
The cultivation of children's sense of orientation should start from distinguishing between "up and down, left and right, southeast and northwest". So don't let the child use the compass first, but use the psychology of "rotating the map" instead of the use of the compass - let them correspond the map orientation to the real environment orientation, so as to achieve the purpose of discerning the direction.
In practice, the map is made according to four representative angles, such as rotating 0°, rotating 90° to the left, rotating 90° to the right, and rotating 180°, and then these different angle orientation maps are randomly distributed to children, allowing children to identify the orientation by rotating the map (as shown above).

Why is it more difficult to find a target point on a map than in a real-world environment?
The reason is due to an increase in spatial dimensions. The map presented in the eyes of the children is a flat two-dimensional space, which only has the characteristics of "left and right front and back"; while the realistic environment of the park is a three-dimensional three-dimensional space, with the characteristics of "up, down, left and right before and after". The only way for children to understand and understand such a "spatial transformation" is to repeatedly compare and practice repeatedly. That is, to guide children to use the map logo to find the corresponding physical object of the park, or to use the physical object of the park to correspond to the logo on the map. When children can map information and correspond to the real environment, children's joyful orientation can also be carried out.

The Little Courier Game is a game used to solve the problem of using the map sign to find the park object.
Each child involved in the game is a small courier, and each of them has 5 couriers that must be delivered in order with the map in their hands. Then the little courier first looks for the delivery point in the real environment of the park in the order shown in the figure, so that the mail can be delivered accurately.
In this way, children can naturally correspond the map information to the real environment.
(2) Map Drawing Game:
Map Drawing Game is a game used to solve the problem of displaying the actual object of the park as a sign on the map.
Ask each child participating in the game to draw a directional chart for the children in other classes.
Pictured above: The teacher leads the child with the map in his hand to the national flag first, and a directional point flag hangs under the national flag. The teacher asks the children to find the location of the flag on the map first, and then mark the location of the flag on the map with a pen (the children in the kindergarten can also ask to write numbers).
