In August 1951, she joined the Yue Opera Experimental Troupe of the East China Opera Research Institute and received key training, starring in a number of traditional plays such as "Jade Hairpin", "Panfu Sofu", "Yang Eight Sister Stealing Knives", "Picking Jade Bracelet", "Cailou Ji" and so on. In 1952, she won the third prize for acting at the First National Opera Observation and Performance Conference, and in 1954, she won the first prize for performance at the East China Opera Observation and Performance Conference. In 1955, Jin Caifeng transferred to the Shanghai Yue Theater and performed "The Tale of the West Chamber" for Zhou Enlai and others. In 1963, she starred in "Jade Hairpin" and was made into a movie, in 1978 she played the young Xianglin sister-in-law in the Yue opera film "Xianglin Sister-in-law", and starred in the modern drama "March Spring Tide", "Lu Xun in Guangzhou", "Embroidered Flower Girl" and the newly edited historical dramas "Empress Hanwen", "Three Ladies", "Yang Guifei" and so on.
In May 2006, Jin Caifeng was awarded the title of "Artist with Special Contribution to Yue Opera in 100 Years" in Shanghai.
