As we all know, the time for the Mid-Autumn Festival throughout the country is the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, while the mid-autumn festival in Ningbo and Taizhou is august 16. Such a custom has continued from the Southern Song Dynasty to today, and the one who promoted the Mid-Autumn Festival in Ningbo to be one day later than other regions was Shi Hao, the famous right minister of the Southern Song Dynasty.
Ningbo is Shi Hao's hometown, why did he postpone the Mid-Autumn Festival in Ningbo by one day? And as the first person to stand up and rehabilitate Yue Fei, what was Shi Hao's consideration?
Very filial piety
Born in the fifth year of Chongning in the Northern Song Dynasty, Shi Hao was the eldest son of the family, he was diligent and studious since childhood, made friends widely, and inherited the filial piety of his ancestors, and from an early age, he had great respect for his parents and took good care of his brother.
When Shi Hao was 19 years old, his father died of illness, and before his death, he told Shi Hao to abide by the ancestral precepts, and as the eldest son and grandson should take good care of his brother and grandfather, Shi Hao remembered his father's will and accompanied his grandfather in the following years.
Later, the Jin people invaded the Song Dynasty and attacked Shi Hao's hometown, he had to take his family to flee to other places, his grandfather died because of his old age, he was tortured in this escape, Shi Hao returned to his hometown to bury his grandfather, and kept filial piety for his grandfather alone for three years.
As a result of the Jin people's invasion, burning and looting everywhere, Shi Hao's family's valuables were all looted, and because of the escape, the family's money was almost spent, and the family has been impoverished since then.
Shi Hao's uncle saw that his family was poor, so he wanted to help Shi Hao's family, but Shi Hao refused, Shi Hao read the Four Books and Five Classics from childhood, and the description of the eldest husband was so deep that he refused to accept the money from Bai, and his uncle's family was also deeply affected by the war, if Shi Hao accepted the help, his conscience would be difficult.
Since then, Shi Hao has begun to study hard and take on the living expenses of the family, and the family is closely united, although poor, but also can be regarded as happy.
In the fourteenth year of Song Gaozong Shaoxing, it was his mother's 60th birthday, but Shi Hao had no money to celebrate his mother's birthday, and he was too unwilling to go, so he borrowed money from his relatives and friends in Tiantong Street to hold a banquet for his mother.
This banquet was very solemn, but Shi Hao was also saddled with huge debts, the creditor came to ask for money, but Shi Hao had no money to pay him back, the man was very frightened after hearing it, he explained to Shi Hao that these money were fang money, if not repaid, Shi Hao and others would be severely punished.
The creditor suggested that the two escape from the wind, and Shi Hao hurried to Shaoxing to take refuge and live in the home of a mother-in-law who sold cakes. At present, the next annual township examination is about to be held, but Shi Hao cannot go home, his heart is extremely anxious, his mother-in-law asked Shi Hao the reason, and he truthfully informed his mother-in-law of the ins and outs.
After hearing this, the mother-in-law felt that Shi Hao was a big filial piety, and after consulting with her sons for one night, she took out her coffin book and handed it to Shi Hao, asking him to go home to repay the money and participate in the township examination. Shi Hao was deeply touched by his mother-in-law's actions, and he secretly vowed in his heart to obtain a meritorious name and come back to repay this kind-hearted mother-in-law.
After returning home, Shi Hao repaid all the principal and interest of the house money, and then applied for the township examination, and indeed passed the entrance examination, the title of the gold list, and he did not renege on his word, returned the money to his mother-in-law at the first time, and regarded her as his elder filial piety, and often came to visit her after that.
Rulers of the world
Because Shi Hao had been learning since childhood and had outstanding abilities, his official position rose all the way up, and he soon entered the imperial court to serve.
The rule of the Northern Song Dynasty did not last long, and the Jin people looked at the tiger in the north, and from time to time went south to harass the northern Song frontier, until the second year of Jing Kang, the Jin people went south to attack the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, Tokyo, and abducted Huizong and Qinzong, and the Northern Song Dynasty fell.
During this period, Emperor Gaozong Zhao, who was still king of Kang, volunteered to be a hostage and personally went to the enemy camp, and the difficulty of Jing Kang caused most of the people of the Zhao family dynasty to be captured and killed, and as the only prince who survived, Zhao Zhuo naturally became the founding emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty.
Shi Hao closely followed the leadership of Zhao Shuo, establishing and stabilizing the Southern Song Dynasty in the face of all kinds of difficulties and dangers, and Zhao Huo also humbly asked Shi Hao from time to time for advice on the way to govern the country, and Shi Hao replied one by one, and the relationship between the two became closer and closer.
Shi Hao then suggested that one of the two kings of Zhao Zhuoli Pu'an and Enping be made crown princes, and he tried to test the second king. Zhao Zhuo ordered the Second King to copy the Orchid Pavilion Preface 500 times, and Shi Hao, as their teacher, advised them to listen to the Words of the Son of Heaven, but king Enping did not write a word, and king Pu'an copied it 700 times.
A few days later, Zhao Zhuo rewarded the two palace ladies with ten each, and Shi Hao persuaded the second king to treat these palace women with courtesy, and a month later, Shi Hao checked whether the twenty palace women were complete, and found that all the palace women of King Enping were defiled, and the king of Pu'an was unmoved by the palace women.
The comparison of the two kings had already been divided, and Zhao Zhuo, at the suggestion of Shi Hao, made King Pu'an crown prince, and Shi Hao was the prince's teacher, and this Pu'an king was the future Emperor Xiaozong Zhao, and in the following years, Shi Hao was loyal to the prince and led the prince through several coups, and the prince also had great respect for this teacher.
After Emperor Xiaozong ascended the throne, he appointed Shi Hao as the right chancellor, and Shi Hao immediately expelled qin ju, a traitorous minister of the old dynasty, and rehabilitated the anti-Jin hero Yue Fei in the court.
Yue Fei was a general in the main battle during the Southern Song Dynasty, and he exerted excellent military ability during the anti-Jin period and recovered a large amount of lost land, but Emperor Gaozong and Qin Ju were bent on peace and constantly prevented Yue Fei from resisting Jin. In the end, Qin Ju and others framed Yue Fei and imprisoned him, and executed him on trumped-up charges.
When Shi Hao paid homage to him, Emperor Gaozong was still recuperating at Deoksugung Palace, but he did not care about the risk of being degraded, and bluntly said that he wanted to rehabilitate Yue Fei, first, to change the atmosphere of the imperial court advocating peace and encouraging the soldiers who resisted Jin, and second, he admired Yue Fei very much, a national hero, and it was worth it to be rehabilitated for him.
As a student of Shi Hao, Emperor Xiaozong was unaware of Shi Hao's thoughts, and he immediately adopted Shi Hao's suggestion to make Yue Fei Zhaoxue and posthumously honor Yue Fei as the King of Wumu.
Filial piety moves the world
While Shi Hao bowed down in the imperial court, he also did not forget his mother in his hometown of Ningbo Province, who was old and inconvenient to travel far away, and was thousands of miles away from his son.
Although Shi Hao was in the imperial court thousands of miles away, he always had to return to his hometown from the capital to reunite with his relatives every year during the Mid-Autumn Festival reunion, but one year, he fell and was injured by the fall of his mount, and he could only spend the night in Shaoxing.
The family had already laid out the sacrifices and waited for Shi Hao to return home, but they did not wait. It was not until august 16 the next day that Shi Hao hurried back home, and the family celebrated the 16th as the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The people of Ningbo Province saw that Shi Hao was so filial and obedient, and could not bear to let Shi Hao's family spend the Mid-Autumn Festival alone, so they spontaneously rose up to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival together on this day, and Ningbo Province was a peaceful scene of celebrating the festival.
Since then, the people of Ningbo Province have taken August 16 as the Mid-Autumn Festival, which has continued to modern times, and the good story of Shi Hao's filial piety has also been passed down with this special day.
Shi Hao was dedicated to the country in the court, dared to give advice, and paid great attention to filial piety and education in family management, which made the historian prosperous from then on, and he had three prime ministers, and the historian thus became a famous family of the Song Dynasty, all of which was the credit of Shi Hao.
