Qiu Xingxiang said that he would not surrender even if he died, and then he put a gun on his head and tried to shoot himself. Seeing this, the cronies directly snatched the gun and ordered the people to set up Qiu Xingxiang, and in this way, he became a prisoner and was escorted to the rear.

Qiu Xingxiang was initially temporarily imprisoned in a prisoner-of-war concentration camp, and the Communist Party has always had the principle of giving preferential treatment to prisoners, so Qiu Xingxiang wore new cotton clothes and ate and lived to a high standard.
Although some of the captured Kuomintang generals decided to switch to the Communists and no longer support Chiang Kai-shek's regime, Qiu Xingxiang still regarded death as a homecoming and would not bow his head no matter what.

After listening to the peasants' words, Qiu Xingxiang fell into deep thought, and he recalled that when he first came to the prisoner-of-war camp, the peasants greeted the PLA soldiers in the middle of the road, and also took out some food and stuffed them with the soldiers, and these Kuomintang prisoners of war only had a few smiling faces at them during their time in the prisoner-of-war camp, and these people were all landlords.
Qiu Xingxiang understood why the Kuomintang lost because the Kuomintang people were selfish and only fought for their own interests. But the Communists are fighting for the millions of poor people, for the sake of a country, for the future of the people, and for the great rejuvenation of the entire Chinese nation.

Someone sent someone to send Qiu Xingxiang home, and brought Qiu Xingxiang some daily necessities.
After Qiu Xingxiang returned home, looking at the dilapidated door, he couldn't help but tremble in his heart, he rushed to the house to open his mother's door, went in to find her mother lying on the kang, he whispered to his mother.
