Chiang Kai-shek was a big figure known to everyone during the Republic of China period, but within the Kuomintang there was another person whose nickname was "Little Chiang Kai-shek", and the holder of this nickname was named Qiu Xingxiang.
Qiu Xingxiang was a student of the fifth phase of Huangpu, and during a roll call, Chiang Kai-shek caught a glimpse of this spiritual boy at a glance, and he could not help but exaggerate twice, saying that Qiu Xingxiang was a model of the Huangpu spirit, so that everyone could learn from Qiu Xingxiang. Qiu Xingxiang was greatly encouraged after hearing this praise and changed the trajectory of his life.
Qiu Xingxiang believes that these few praises are Chiang Kai-shek's appreciation of himself, so he is more strict with himself, and what is more exaggerated is that he will imitate the details of Chiang Kai-shek's life. For example, if Chiang Kai-shek does not smoke or drink, he does not smoke or drink; when Chiang Kai-shek leaves a bald head, he also cuts his head; usually he often wears the same black coat as Chiang Kai-shek, so he is called "Little Chiang Kai-shek" by people.
However, Qiu Xingxiang was not ambiguous in fighting, and he was also a veritable tiger general during the War of Resistance. Some of the more famous ones are the Battle of Western Hunan in 1945, when Qiu Xingxiang was tasked with blocking the Japanese army on the wuyang line in western Hunan Province. Because this battle was the last counterattack of the Japanese army, Chiang Kai-shek attached great importance to this battle and issued five military orders in a row to eliminate the Japanese army.
As soon as Qiu Xingxiang heard Chiang Kai-shek's orders, he was energetic, even though there was still a big gap between the equipment of his troops and the enemy at that time. In order to make up for these gaps, Qiu Xingxiang boldly proposed a long-distance roundabout attack strategy, personally led a detachment to carry out a ninety-mile rapid march, hit them behind the enemy and caught them off guard, and directly took down the Japanese headquarters.
The Japanese army, which had lost its headquarters, was in chaos and was directly surrounded and annihilated by the Fifth Division, and such a dazzling record also made a good start for the victory in the Battle of Xiangxi.
After hearing about Qiu Xingxiang's achievements, Chiang Kai-shek also did not skimp on his own praise, praising Qiu Xingxiang as one of his tiger generals. Moreover, on the same day, he personally called to praise the achievements of the Fifth Division, and also awarded Qiu Xingxiang a medal of the Order of yunli. After this battle, Qiu Xingxiang became famous in the first battle and got the nickname of Qiu Tiger.
However, in the Liberation War, Qiu Xingxiang was not so dazzling, and after losing to the People's Liberation Army, his military career and even his life were declared over. Therefore, Qiu Xingxiang did not have the opportunity to sit in a higher position, and in his life as a soldier, the highest position was only the division commander, not a high-powered position, but his loyalty to Chiang Kai-shek was still commendable.
