In 1911, Yang Dezhi was born in Sanwangchong, Nanyangqiao, Liling County, Hunan Province, his father was a famous local blacksmith, so it can be said that the son inherited his father's business, the father is hoping that his son can inherit his mantle in the future, for those years, Yang Dezhi did follow his father to learn to play iron, and the skills are still very good, but later he went to be a coal miner.
In 1928, the 17-year-old Yang Dezhi joined the 7th Division of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army, and went to Jinggangshan together, and since then Yang Dezhi's revolutionary career has begun, and then Yang Dezhi has successively served as a guard platoon leader, a special agent company commander, an artillery company commander, a regimental commander, a division commander, and other positions.
In 1932, Yang Dezhi was awarded the Third Class Red Star Medal, when he was the commander of the 1st Regiment of the 1st Division, and under his command successfully repelled the repeated attacks of the 3 divisions of the Nationalist Army, which can be said to greatly thwart the vigor of the Nationalist Army.
In the subsequent Long March, Yang Dezhi showed even more dazzling, his red regiment served as an advance task, successfully took the Wujiang River, also annihilated the Kuomintang defenders in Songming County, and then crossed the Dadu River with a strong force, opening a smooth passage for the follow-up team of our Central Red Army.
After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Yang Dezhi served as the commander of the 685th Regiment of the 343rd Brigade of the 115th Division of the Eighth Route Army, and participated in the famous Battle of Pingxingguan, which was definitely the first major victory since the eighth route army was launched, and also greatly defeated the myth of the invincibility of the Japanese army.
In 1938, Yang Dezhi founded new anti-Japanese base areas in the east of Pinghan Road and south of the Zhanghe River; in 1939, together with General Luo Ruiqing, he created the Jiluyu Anti-Japanese Base Area, especially during the Japanese army's great sweep, under the leadership of Yang Dezhi, he successfully defeated the Japanese puppet army "sweep" many times.
In the Liberation War, Yang Dezhi was appointed commander of the 1st Column of the Jinji-Hebei Luyu Military Region, and led his troops to participate in the Battle of Handan and the Battle of Zhengtai, especially in the Battle of Pingjin, Yang Dezhi's unit completely annihilated Fu Zuoyi's "ace" 35th Army and 2 other divisions.
During the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Yang Dezhi also led the team to participate, and made great contributions to the Fifth Campaign and the Autumn Defense Operation, and in 1955 General Yang Dezhi was awarded the founding general.
