On April 18, 1942, 16 U.S. B-25 bombers took off from U.S. aircraft carriers in the Pacific Ocean, bombed the Japanese mainland, and landed at Zhejiang Air Force Airfield.
The Japanese mainland was bombed for the first time, and the Japanese army was greatly angered and immediately organized troops to attack the Quzhou airfield, which was the largest in southeast China at that time.
The Japanese attacked with as many as eighty brigades and heavy fire cover such as aircraft, and their opponents were the Chinese Third Theater Defense Army.
The Third Theater decided to defend Quzhou with the elite of the Nationalist Army, and then surround Quzhou on the east, west and south sides with four armies, including the Seventy-fourth Army, in order to encircle and annihilate the Japanese army.
It was Xie Shiyan who led the army to guard Quzhou.
Fight the Japanese
The enemy army was strong and strong, and the nationalist army did not have much hope for the defense of Quzhou. Just at this moment, Xie Shiyan listened to the radio of the Liberated Areas on the radio, and the idea of joining the Chinese Communist Party inspired him in his heart.
But as a young general in the Nationalist army, how can Xie Shiyan connect with the Chinese Communist Party?
At the Eleventh Theater Headquarters, Xie Shiyan had an old friend, Chen Rongsheng, who was an underground member of the Communist Party of China. Xie Shiyan secretly observed and found that Chen Rongsheng was clean and self-righteous, very extraordinary, and slowly felt that this person might have a connection with the Chinese Communist Party.
On this day, Xie Shiyan received a secret intelligence that the Kuomintang would attack Zhangjiakou in the Liberated Areas, and in a hurry of 100,000 yuan, Xie Shiyan chose to gamble, and he broke into Chen Rongsheng's home at night and pulled out a detailed plan for attacking Zhangjiakou:
"This draft plan was drafted by me for Sun Lianzhong, and it has been approved, and the ten days will be actiond. Now I want you to send it to General Ye Jianying. If you don't do it, we'll die together!"
Xie Shiyan did not guess wrong, this information was immediately sent to the Liberated Areas, and the idea of the Kuomintang attempting to start a civil war was announced.
Chiang Kai-shek was greatly angered and ordered the military command to investigate secretly, but Xie Shiyan's "innocence" made him never suspected.

During his incubation period, Xie Shiyan secretly reported information such as the theater military conference to the Chinese Communist Party, including the Kuomintang's military deployment in North China and the national strategic concept.
After more than half a year of rigorous testing, Xie Shiyan was approved to join the party, and what he did not expect was that it was Ye Jianying who approved him to join the party.
One day in early 1947, Chen Rongsheng received a notice and took Xie Shiyan to the agreed place.

Before leaving, Ye Jianying took Xie Shiyan's hand and encouraged:

On September 19, 1948, Xie Shiyan was taken to the execution ground.
