At that time, the garrison of Jinan was named Wang Yaowu, and after receiving the telegram, he was immediately full of sorrow, after the old Jiang Lunan and other places had drawn most of the military forces on this side, including the artillery he valued very much, and pulled away.
At present, he has only 100,000 troops in his hands, including many recruit eggs and some wounded people who have no combat effectiveness, and this Jinan City is now an "empty shell", and he really has no certainty of victory.
But this kind of defeat could not be revealed on his face, and later Lieutenant General Du Yuming came to Wang Yaowu for a drink, and Wang Yaowu at the wine table promised that he would stick to Jinan, but when he woke up, he quietly released more than 200 underground parties, which was also a way back for himself.

He had wanted to send a telegram to his superiors to suggest that he lead the remaining 100,000 troops to withdraw from Jinan and retreat to the north of Xuzhou, and then form a new defensive line with the Nationalist government garrison around Xuzhou, so that the chances of victory against our party might be greater.
However, before he could send this telegram, he received a secret edict from Old Chiang Kai-shek, asking him to fly to Nanjing as soon as possible and discuss important matters.
Don't think about it, this must be the next Battle of Jinan. Old Jiang was very cautious about Wang Yaowu's arrival, and His wife Song Qingling also cooked a meal for Wang Yaowu, which made Wang Yaowu feel flattered.
But as a soldier, he could not take care of one or the other, and although he knew that old Chiang would be unhappy, he still expressed his own suggestion, and the best situation at the moment was to withdraw from Jinan and give up the city to our party.

Wang Yaowu made two preparations for this: First, he secretly released more than 200 underground party members who were imprisoned in the military prison of the Youth Training Corps, and Liu Qinli, the director of the Jinan Police Bureau at this time, repeatedly petitioned Wang Yaowu to execute these people, but wang Yaowu suppressed them and finally released them all in secret.
The second preparation was to send all his wives, children, and children out of Jinan to Nanjing, where Old Jiang was located. In fact, sending his family members before the war was a demoralizing move, and there was a lot of resentment in the army at that time; but Wang Yaowu found a grand reason: he mortgaged his family to Old Jiang to prove his determination to defend Jinan!
