A couple transformed the house into a nostalgic 1950s style

Gemma and Dean Barton from Northamptonshire, England, have been living in their house for 15 years, but they decided to embark on a three-year home renovation project to beautify the house and pay homage to the 1950s, according to the British newspaper The Mirror. Gemma and Dean Burton, 42, spent £50,000 to renovate their three-bedroom home and collect art and furniture that pays homage to the 1950s. They wrapped all the walls in wallpaper and prints from that era, including James Bond's posters. They also proudly displayed 50s jewelry in the box. Gemma said: "We have been living in this house for 15 years and we always feel that white and cream looks monotonous, such a life is not what we want, and our house looks really dull before the renovation. ”

She added that she and her husband had remodeled the entire house and even got a bar in the garage. With the exception of the windows and bathrooms, which were installed by professionals, all other renovation work for the house was done by Gemma and Dean himself.

Gemma said they spent around £5 to £6,000 on decorations, paints and prints. In order to make the house look as colorful as possible, gray, orange, green and black are also used to contrast with the printed wallpaper.

One of the most striking pieces of furniture in the house is a tan sofa, which makes the whole living room look "retro". Gemma said: "I used a black transparent cabinet to show those 50s hairpins, bags and all kinds of small objects, and the background was wallpaper from women's magazines, which worked well. We really liked the style of the 50s, so we needed a place to show off my petticoats, round skirts and hairpins and Dean's Hawaiian shirts and so on, so we converted one of the rooms into a dressing room with a hanging rail. We also got a positive response from a lot of fans on Instagram. (Compiled and reported by China Youth Network)
